I hope someone in the press does this (AWOL's records) |
|
would someone from the press PLEASE find someone who honorably served in the National Guard about the same time as bush and find out if their records are available and what they look like? I really think it would be helpful if we saw what complete records WOULD look like IF the wh did not make the whole process so mysterious. That would give those of us who are interested an idea of what we are being given by the WH and what should be available.
Come on Mr./Ms. Reporter..... do your stuff!

1. Send this suggestion to Richard Cohen (Washington Post?) |
|
He recently wrote an article about his NG service where he got paid for over 2 years while he was not showing up. He seems like the perfect choice. And you are right, if we don't have a similarly situated person reveal their complete NG docs, how will we know what should be there?

I just sent the question to Josh Marshall. If anyone can think of others to ask... go for it!

4. Hey, that was my idea! |
|
Great minds think alike. If I needed all my Army records, they would be there to document where I was and what I was doing every day in the Army.

5. most military forms have a tiny "revised date" at the very bottom |
|
They should look closely at pages that are "cropped" at the bottom..
1972 "records" on a form that was revised in 1986 would be a bit "odd"..:)

6. I'm still hoping some reporter will do this.... |
|
I notice today that some people are coming forward in the news saying their service records show many details that AWOL's does not. Still a visual comparison for the public would be nice.

7. The person in the forefront of this is Kevin Drum... |
|
http://www.calpundit.comJosh Marshall's been quoting his blog pretty consistently, plus Kevin has interviewed Burkett recently. Try him...

I wish someone would ask for his flight log. I wanna know how much he flew before he was suspended. A pilot told me the log would be available still and should be made public. Maybe someone could ask Josh or Cohen to poke into that.

9. The very thought running 'round my brain, Hamlette, flight records. |
|
Specifically, Shrub's hours in the seat of an F-102. I'd bet its embarrassingly low.
And then, in line with this thread topic, compare his hours with the average or typical hours for other one-hitch NG F-102 pilots at the end of their hitch.
Perhaps compare first to other pilots in his unit, then also compare to other units around the country. That Houston bunch seems to have set new standards for slack service. Even among them he's probably the cow's tail, along with his buddy Bath.
