How we can win the patriotism debate |
|
If Republicans say they want this election to be about patriotism we should say "bring it on". If they want to talk about patriotism we should welcome that debate by questioning the patriotism of companies that close down American plants and ship jobs south of the border or overseas, and the policians who give them tax cuts for doing it. We should question the patriotism of HMO's that conspire to deny care to sick people who have worked hard for a living. We should question the patriotism of CEO's who take obscence salaries while We should question the patriotism of every chickenhawk conservative who has ever banged the drums for war and failed to serve their county in uniform when their chance to serve came along. Finally, we should question the patriotism of cutting veterans benefits during these times.

1. By simply calling the debate what it is: a cheap ploy |
|
to try and win the hearts and minds. That is the biggest bunch or hooey -- that somehow rethugs are more patriotic than others. Why? Because they blindly follow the WH line?
This country was born on dissent, and it's high time rethugs were relieved of the patriotism monopoly.

I agree 100%. The CEOs of major corporations shipping our jobs away are anything BUT patriotic. It's a winning theme and true as can be.

4. Also war is a time for sacrifice and those who best can afford it |
|
should a be more than willing to give up their huge tax cut as their patriotic duty. If they are true patriots they won't blink at asking the huge tax cut to be rescinded, especially for those who can most afford it.

5. We've already won it by sticking to the truth and our position. |
|
Bush lied and people died. Saddam told the truth and Bush didn't. how's that for credibility?
We want our young soldiers home where they will not be giving their lives for a PNAC war and not our country. How's that for patriotism?
Keep our country safe by respecting other nations and their culture and stop our arrogant, facist, racist, imperialism world-wide.

7. Just put Bush's war record... |
|
....next to Kerry's war record. If it's about patriotism and after comparing records the American people return Bush to office, the American people deserve what they get.

There's nothing patriotic about running our country's economy into the ground and handing our government over to the oligarchy.

9. Point out how difficult it will be to maintain U.S. military supremacy... |

when we've exported our entire industrial base to China, among other places.
