US athletes are being warned to prepare for a hostile reception at the Athens Olympics, and it may be worse than some booing and name-calling.

NEW YORK (AP) -- While U.S. athletes are being warned to prepare for a hostile reception at the Athens Olympics, Americans staying home are worried it might be worse than some booing and name calling.

More than half of those surveyed in an Associated Press poll say they believe a terrorist attack is likely at the Summer Games, and four out of 10 say American athletes are most likely to be the target of any such attack.

2. How about that soccer loss to Mexico?
Was that a sign of things to come? Our neighbor to the South embarrasses us on the field and chants "Osama" afterwards. Just think what the Euros will do to us. Maybe it's a good thing we lost or we'd have to face the English soccer hooligans in Greece.

3. Athens will be an "interesting" host city.
"ATHENS 2004 and OGSD organised and are working with the Olympic Advisory Group (OAG), a seven-nation task force with extensive experience in the security planning of large sport events, including the Olympic Games. The seven nations are Australia, France, Germany, Israel, Spain, the UK and the US. OAG meets regularly to discuss planning, technology and training issues. Within this framework, for example, OGSD organises operational readiness exercises in close cooperation with the British Police as well as specialised training sessions in cooperation with government agencies from the OAG."

4. The other night...
I heard about this from a Greek guy I know who sez it's all the buzz over there.

Don't know what all the popular opinion over there is, but we sort of talked around the idea that Greece not too long ago got rid of its most corrupt government in modern history and escaped a war with Turkey.

They need this shit like a hole in the head. And he thinks we'll just make it worse fucking around over there.

Then he asked me about Echelon...
