The TANG scandal has nullified the Bush flight suit campaign footage
I've read in a couple of stories in the last couple of days that the public may not really think the TANG scandal is that big an issue. And, I guess we can't expect the general public to see this whole scandal for what it is as those of here at DU see it because that's just not going to happen. We're in the top 5% of politically aware people. Right now the general public is concerned primarily about jobs, the economy and to a growing extent the Iraq quagmire.

Now we all know the footage of that idiot strutting around in a flight suit after landing on that carrier was intended for use in campaign commercials this coming fall. So one of the best things to come out of the TANG scandal is that the image of Bush in that flight suit and all it was supposed to imply has now been completely nullified. Any hope the GOP had that the impact that these commercials may have had in portraying that idiot as a fine strong military man leader have now been completely spoiled. Regardless of the context of the carrier footage, the unavoidable image will now be of someone of whom there are doubts as to his honesty about his military service.

For our purposes, I think that's just fine and good enough. The public isn't going to see this as an issue of the importance that we do without some kind of "smoking gun" documentation. Frankly, I don't think that exists. But what does exist is plenty of doubt and the fact that the issue has been put forward that this "president" never has been forthcoming about his military service. The more they scramble to find documents justifying Bush's military service and the more they scramble to find someone that was in the TANG when he was that will say nice things about him, the more it looks like they're covering up a real scandal.

There's not going to be a Congressional investigation and Ken Starr is not going be Special Prosecutor to look into the TANG scandal even though we know if it was Clinton no dollar would be spared in going after him on this issue. But, the TANG scandal has served to nullify The TANG issue will always be there and it can, and I'm sure will, be periodically resurected when needed between now and November whenever the words Bush and military appear in the same sentence. One thing is for certain, if the C(R)EEP runs the footage of Bush landing on the carrier, they're going to look real foolish. That commercial isn't worth a thin dime right now.

Once this issue dies down (and it will), then it will be on to the issues of not being forthcoming about getting a DWI, insider trading in this era of corporate misconduct and Martha Stewart, and a host of other things where Bush has his liabilities.

4. I still like Silver Star vs. Silver Spoon, which do you want?
Originally from Clark campaign I believe. But works for Kerry candidacy as well. Makes a great poster.

6. I thought the flight suit gig was nullified by the "Mission Accomplished"
banner that flew behind Junior when it became clear that the mission was far from over.

And how about the Thanksgiving day trip to Baghdad Airport with the turkey holding the plastic turkey?
