When we win the election...
....can Kerry or whoever make things better. Many people are still cynical. Essentially there is this belief, while many of these people hate Bush that it is just same shit different asshole. While a friend of mine is not happy with Bush, especially about the Patriot Act, he was unhappy with Clinton over the Telecom bill, the DCMA and gun control. What are your thoughts. I think that any of these Dems would do a lot better. But how much?

1. i think any dem is better IN SPIRIT
but any dem is up against a republican house, republican senate, republican supreme court, republican media, and republican-slanted campaign financing.

so most likely, any democrat will be able to accomplish little beyond stemming the tide for 4 or 8 years.

the good news, is that this gives democrats invaluable time to take the fight to the state and local level, so we can regain some balance in school boards, state legislatures, congressional redistricting, congressional delegations, the senate, and maybe even a supreme court appointment or three.

but the idea that we any democrat could possibly an fdr in this environment is just asking way too much from anybody.

3. Exactly
At least if we beat Bush we'll be able to balance out the courts. Heck, we could get the Supreme Court if O'Conner or Rehnquist are forced to resign due to health reasons.
