he will really scare you then. I never truly appreciated what the special miraculous government our forefathers sought to create until I studied not only the Const., but the bill of rights, and the case law, plus their letters to the public/each other. They have got to be rolling around in their graves. For instance, correct me if I'm wrong, there was no exception to the requirement of a search warrant, based on probable cause. The court recognized certain narrow exceptions, such as a Terry-type-search for officer safety; one thing is abundantly clear, however, Ashcroft's argument that he is simply codifying powers that already existed in other law enforcement areas seems like complete bunk to me. sometimes I think that I would have been better off in blissful ignorance of the ramifications of Ashcroft's actions.

Love the Board comments. It's just scary to see how they are steadily implementing their plan to control the judiciary, the Congress, the Executive Branch, how we live. Pretty soon we will be Ashcroft's warped vision of a theocracy. I belong to a New Thought/minority religion that appreciates the wisdom inherent in all faiths. Disappointing how the fundie-bullies are able to get away with forcing a certain lifestyle on the rest of us. ABB 2004! That's the only way it will end.

these guys saw firsthand what unbridled power can do. As time has gone by, the erosion of Civil Liberties has gone under many a guise, the two worst offenders are th "War on Drugs", and the "War on Terror".

Over the past couple of hundred years, the 'Puritan Ethic' has been growing. The fear that someone, somewhere, may be having fun, scares these cretins to death. But they have no compulsion to reign in the outright theft of other peoples property. The GOP has sunken to the lowest it has ever been, TR would be blowing veins in his skull if he knew what was happening!

I knew we were in serious trouble, when "First Amendment Zones" were created to silence the dissent. From that day forward, I have kept a vigilant eye on these bastards, and cannot wait until they are tossed from power.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC displays a number of large and naked sculptures throughout....and John Asscroft sits on the Board of Directors....so sometimes, he does go over there to make speeches, and this is an actual photo, with a breathtaking Auguste Rodin sculpture in the fore-ground....
