23. The flat tax is a scheme designed by the rich...

If you aren't very educated about it, it seems like an ok idea.

Once you look into it, you realize pretty quick that it would be the end of this country if it evre passed.

Anyone who proposes it is a con-artist.

30. how so?
I'm really not sure I agree with you. I'm not a fan of taxes, in general, and I believe that we could have cadillac health and human services if we'd just stop wasting money on the military and law enforcement.

Just my opinion, of course.

8. Just a comment
The guy who wrote the "Barely Legal" book thinks (it hard to prove since it gets very complicated) we probably "net" have a "flat tax" now - meaning if you lop in all the local, state, and Federal taxes and all the loopholes the rich use; the poor, the middle class, and the rich probably pay about a 20% overall tax.

The one interesting "flat tax" idea is the flat tax where the first 50K or so isn't taxed.

6. Thicker than water
I don't trust any of John Forbes Kerry's first cousins, because among the power elite, blood is thicker than water, and water is thicker than their loyalty to the Constitution.

19. stuart not steve
my mistake -- i was thinking of stuart forbes, kerry's first cousin who is CEO of Colliers International, as referred to in this article from the Center for Public Integrity that mentions Kerry pushing normalization of ties with Vietnam, then Vietnam granting a billion-dollar contract to Kerry's first cousin's company Colliers:

http://www.bop2004.org/bop2004/candidate.aspx?cid=4

so it's Stuart Forbes I don't trust. Steve is off the hook.

11. He said over two million jobs have been CREATED under Chimp.
There is a guy who comes to my house whenever it snows to shovel the driveway, he also comes by and asks to rake leaves or do anything for money. There have been times he has asked to borrow money for child support, it was humiliating for both of us. I can't afford to have him do much because I pay him $10 an hour and we're not in a class that can afford hired help.

In Steve Forbes world the guy who comes to my house is another of the self-employed new jobs created by Bush. In my mind the guy is trying to avoid begging for money when he asks to do work that doesn't really need to be done.

I do hate Republicans.

14. Bush 3% forecast is 3.8 m jobs in 04 - we got 118k in Jan - Forbes
is as nuts as his Dad

The Net of over 2 million jobs created and over 4 million jobs lost is 2.2 million jobs lost.

I bet no one pointed that out!

And did any note the math challenged Bush saying he can't sign on to his Econ Advisors 2.6 million job creation in 04, somehow forgetting that the reports 3% job growth implies 3.8 million net new jobs, not 2.6 million.

Of course our media is running with the 2.6 m number, because they are not paid to think! - And the 2.6 million number is already sounding silly.

17. Did he talk about NET jobs created or just JOBS created?
Big effin' difference. There probably has been 2 million jobs CREATED, but, and it's a BIG BUT, there have been 4 - 5 million jobs LOST!!

Also, can we get the definition of CREATED? If someone loses there job and someone else is hired to take that job, has a job been "created"?

Or is a job created only when an actual NEW position is offered? Like seasonal hiring. Which leads to how to count that seasonally "created" job when the season ends? Is it UN-created?

Bottom line - bush* = economic disaster and no amount of creepy-ooking-repuke spin can "create" an answer to that!

20. He redefined what a job is, so then he could claim all the currently
used statistics are false. He said payroll should not be an indicator of jobs, the new jobs are held by the self employed and aren't counted.

That's why I described the guy who comes to my house. As far as I could tell Forbes would consider him employed, but not on a payroll.

25. Also you can't prove the self employed story nor can you disprove it
It seems to me a convenient way for the right to get off the hook. Just say that those who were previously unemployed now are self employed which of course they are not unless you mean like your guy. Actually they lost their unemployment so they are no longer counted.

It gets me that a guy like Forbes who has all the money he could spend wants more. I work for a guy like that and it seems that they never have enough.

31. So basically he said if you are UNEMPLOYED you are actually
SELF-EMPLOYED!

I suppose looking for a job, or not looking for that matter, is now A JOB!

Good for bush*, I hope he picks that up and declares unemployment 0% and employment 205%!!

Clinton/Gore recession. He babbled that same crap on Lou Dobbs the other night and Lou told him to quit that nonsense it's three years later. Forbes still had that stupid smirk on his face. Same old tired supply side bull..tax cuts increase government revenues, economical expansion..blah blah blah. I think he's on Limpball's Oxy.
