Center for American Progress Announces 2003-2004 Fellows

WASHINGTON - October 23 - As former Clinton White House COS John Podesta’s new progressive think tank -- Center for American Progress -- opens its doors later this month, they’ve coined the CIA operative leak scandal “Intimigate” and have signed up 9 progressive thinkers as part of their fellows program.

Joining the new think tank are five Clinton Administration officials: Gene Sperling, former Director of the National Economic Council, Jeanne Lambrew, former Program Associate Director for Health at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and as the Senior Health Analyst at the National Economic Council during the Clinton Administration. Morton H. Halperin who served in the Clinton, Nixon and Johnson administrations, and two former National Security Council officials, Gayle Smith, who worked on Africa and Ivo Daalder, who worked on Europe. Daalder will also stay on as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute.

The fellows line up also includes Eric Alterman, author of What Liberal Media? and the “Stop the Presses” media column for The Nation; Lawrence Korb, former Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Reagan Administration; Matt Miller, author, nationally syndicated columnist and host of a political public radio talk show; Melody Barnes who served as the Chief Counsel to Senator Ted Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee and as the Director of Legislative Affairs for the EEOC; and Ruy Teixera, recent author of The Emerging Democratic Majority and a weekly online column, Public Opinion Watch.
