Oh, yay. Bush/Cheney seek my volunteer talents.
Again, I implore you... how did I get on this list???

But... what fun!!

Enjoy debunking this email. You'll be truly shocked that they, as we, are concerned about the teensy number of votes that separated Al Gore from the presidency, in certain states. They do mention how close the electoral college was, but not a word about the overall popular vote loss.

Is this a sign of weakness, or will this really help them rally their troops? It reeks of early desperation and testing-of-the-waters to me...

Text of email from BushCheney04@GeorgeWBush.com.

Subject Line: Will You Be The Difference?

It is the year 2000. In the presidential campaign...

New Mexico hinges on 366 votes, Florida on only 537 votes.
Iowa is won by 4144 votes, Wisconsin by 5708 votes.
Oregon is decided by 6765 votes, New Hampshire by 7211 votes.

In the closest presidential election in modern history, 24,731 people in a nation of 280 million make the difference for 59 electoral votes. An incredible statistic when you consider just 4 electoral votes meant the difference between a President Bush and a President Gore.

The year is 2004. Another presidential campaign is here...

Will you be one of the people who makes a difference this time?

Maybe. If you choose to act today.

President Bush not only needs your vote, he needs your help. You can do two things...

(1) Join up as a Bush Volunteer by simply clicking the sign up button below or going here:

(2) Forward this email to friends and family who want to help the President.

Be the difference and receive an email on November 3 that says, "President George W. Bush would like to thank you for helping him win a second term."

1. Wouldn't it be hilarious if a big group of people volunteered
and then did deliberately badly, swearing on the phone, losing leaflets, canvassing in full Nazi regalia, some inappropriate self-touching while meeting the public. Not that I'm suggested some subversion, mind.

Then it becomes self-perpetuating, marginalizing Republicans.
The more scary assholes they've got, the better!

3. Volunteer. I'll bet you get a really cool brown shirt.
And if you volunteer - they'll give you lots and lots of postage-paid envelopes that you can then give to a bunch of DUers. Then we can all send in our monetary donations attached to bricks.

Or maybe just a brick in this case...

7. a couple three things
2000 there was so much anger at clinton. that isnt there any more.

a lot of republicans are not pleased with bush, he had them by the balls (can i say that) last time, doesnt this time. republicans that wont vote for him again, and that includes a lot of independents and democrats that were disgusted with clinton

there is the senate, house and president under republican, and many people dont like that all out power

and not going to have split vote from nadar

those alone is going to shift the close votes, but also

you have a lot of democrats so purpose to get bush out so will have the turn out hopefully.

i am still sitting with a long time til nov, and republicans cheat.....also have been listening to those about the abortion and other things on bush, and of course democrats argue the morality of putting out, something republicans would never do, and that i honor. yet also is how we get beat. republicans have to be saying suckers...........as so many around say they both do it, and that just isnt true.
