Conservative columnist and cartoonist.
Edit: I'll note the cartoonist is a real jackass too.

You could ask your friend if CNN is so liberal, why doesn't it have a nightly labor report as it has a business report. You can ask him why CNN didn't have any real anti-Iraq war commentators during the build-up to the Iraq war. There are numerous other examples but I doubt conservatives will buy them.

4. All commercial media is inherently conservative. |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 02:04 PM by theorist
CNN is more concerned with making money than reporting the news. This is the same with FOX, MSNBC, etc. That's why you go online for your news, right?
Just look at the way all of the TV news stations covered the war. The reporters were acting more as if they were covering a football game than an invasion.
addition: I use "conservative" above as a synonym for pro-corporations, pro-Republican, etc. Other examples of the homogeneity are the coverage of the "War on Drugs", labor (lack of coverage here), and the tendency to just repeat White House press releases nearly verbatim.

5. He should explain why it is first. |
|
Once he does that, it will be easier to explain why it is not. Don't do the work for him.

8. Show them what "librul" really is |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 02:06 PM by mouse7
Take them to some far left websites. REAL far left web sites like Infoshop.org and indymedia.org. Let them notice that CNN has never covered a single one of the stories mentioned on those sites. Show them some video of the police attacks on protesters in Miami. Ask him how "librul" CNN never gleefully jumped at putting that video on.

9. Use the Pre war debate |
|
Hypothetically
let's say 60% of the people were for the war that would mean every fourth story on CNN prior to the war should of been anti-war .
This was not the case , every show had a pro-war slant with the prowar side out numbering antiwar side .
CNN did not interview our side every fourth story .

I hadn't thought of that one. If the media is truly librull, then the fairness doctrine will only help the conswervatives! They'd have to support it, or be shown for the clueless ninnies they are.

I have a friend who has never read The NY Times, saying it was liberal. That's how people at Faux and talk radio program their listeners "The Liberal Media.... is to blame."

18. Ask him if he knows who Gov. Davis is, then as him if he knows |
|
who GOv. Rowlands is.
Ask him which pres. had a lawsuit filed against him for a sexual attack. (not clinton)
Ask him who Ellen Mariani is.
Ask him the name of the Congressman who's aid was missing and found dead many months later.
Ask him the name of the Congressman whos aid was found dead in his office.
then ask him how he thinks the media would have reacted if Clinton entered a school KNOWING that 4 planes were off course, one had hit and then stayed in the classroom for 10-20 minutes after the second one hit. and on, and on, and on....
