Red alert heads up: "Constitution Restoration Act "heads up folks
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 04:39 PM by Mari333
Today the Yurica Report learned that on February 11 , 2004 Dominionist leaders in congress made their move; they introduced a bill in both houses called The Constitution Restoration Act of 2004. Among the sponsors of the bill are Rep. Robert Aderholt (Alabama), Rep. Michael Pence (Indiana), Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, Sen. Zell Miller (Georgia), Sen. Sam Brownback (Kansas), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (South Carolina).

The House version is H.R. 3799 and the Senate version is S. 2082. The bill limits the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts to hear cases involving “expressions of religious faith by elected or appointed officials.”

Although the claim by its sponsors appears to be that the intention is to prevent the courts from hearing cases involving the Ten Commandments or a Nativity Scene in a public setting from being reviewed, the law is drawn broadly and expressly includes the acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law by an official in his capacity of executing his office. John Giles, Alabama President of Christian Coalition said, "The greatest unbridled abuse by the federal judiciary for over forty years has been in the area of redefining the acknowledgement of God as the sovereign source of law...We define this as judicial activism, making law from the bench. These unconstitutional rulings have gone unchecked by other branches of government."

1. lol
well, it won't pass. And if it did, it's unconstitutional and would be struck down quickly.

2. Jesus H. Christ
yeah, that's right: Jesus H. Christ in a pony cart, do these people ever do *anything* but worry about "faith?" Don't any issues facing the nation need attention boys? Isn't any American dying in agony due to war wounds, lack of insurance or other terrible causes? Do no Americans fear the future that is under risk by careless foreign policy and the exportation of jobs?

Nothing? Nothing at all to do boys? I find it hard to believe and your religious antics are starting to make me question my own faith.

7. No bodies don't count or matter
How do you think we have had so many religious wars over the centuries. And right now, there are "compassionate Christian" organizations in Iraq, attempting to "lead the heathens to God"

12. and if the 'heathens' won;t be led to the correct god, they'll send them
They claim to follow the 'Prince of Peace' but most seem hell bent on the war.

God, save me from your followers

10. These people have no concern for "faith"
They are concerned with VOTES.

Shelby and Aderholt are from my state, and they would sell their mothers into slavery for a vote. They raise pandering to a level beyond the imagination of the ordinary politician.

These damn xtians will stop at nothing to ram their god down my throat!

It shouldn't pass, but who in the hell is going to vote against god in an election year?

If god is the sovereign source of law... that would make lawyers the equivalent of priests, and judges the equivalent of bishops. Federal judges would be cardinals, and the SCOTUS would be the college of cardinals, and the president, THE POPE!

Isn't this why we left Europe in the first place?

*on edit* You gotta love the name of this bill! Orwell's spinning right along with the Founding Fathers!

9. um, i would be upset.....
.... except that such a law would be struck down by, well, the supreme court... and rightly so.... it intrudes on the constitutional division of powers, as extended/intepreted in marbury v madison....

lol - nice try tho, damn biblethumpers....

wasn't there a thread around here saying how we should all get along with religous people? lol - i'd rather go to hell than get along with those people...

"jesus, protect me from your followers!"

13. Are they on drugs?.

This isn't the only bad bill that is before the Congress. HR2844 is a grab for power also.

They want to replace the Consitution and Bill of Rights with King George (religious and government leader of the Americas).

Lnk:type in the bills and read about them. Link: http://thomas.loc.gov/

Ya block up the courts with religious dogma so we can't get government done. It tyranny just like in Iran for a theocracy. Or is it to get votes and distract from their bad policies over the war and lies?

The message..we are religious and therefore good people. We wouldn't lie to you!! Whanna bet?

This administration is the most corrupt in our 200 plus year history. The Republican leaders are really unethical and stupid. Drunk with power.

This is a cover to take over our government as a Christian theocracy and nothing else.

The sponsors of these bills should be asked to leave Congress since they are negating the legal system as well as the Separation Clause in the Constitution. They fail to represent all religious/non- religious citizens.

They seek special consideration under the legal process for their religious organization and dogma.

Among the sponsors of the bill are Rep. Robert Aderholt (Alabama), Rep. Michael Pence (Indiana), Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, Sen. Zell Miller (Georgia), Sen. Sam Brownback (Kansas), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (South Carolina).

Please ask the Ethics Committee to investigate this abuse of power for their own religious agenda.

15. More Newspeak...
Why is it when ever these clowns come up with something they give it a title that gives the exact opposite impression of what the law or policy will actually do. This is anything but Constitutional Restoration. The Patriot Act... yeah right. Leave no child behind? My ass.
