Home of the Whopper! New manufacturing jobs exploding in Florida!
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 07:20 AM by TruthIsAll
Don't believe for a minute the liberal smear that we are losing jobs. Not true.

In a 3 mile radius of my home, I saw scores of help wanted signs posted for engineers - Manufacturing engineers. Companies now looking for graduate M.E.'s are McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Sbarro, Ruby Tuesday, etc. And they promise not to outsource any of them.

My first job out of college was as a Manufacturing Engineer at a Long Island defense manufacturer.

The University of Miami is revising the Engineering Curriculum to include courses such as Manufacturing Burgers 101, Introduction to Fried Chicken Technology and Advanced Pizza Design.

Bush wants to classify flipping burgers as manufacturing jobs. Well and good. Lets face it. The American economy is changing. And so we must recognize the fact that only a good education will get you the manufacturing job of your dreams.

1. OTOH, the new "high-tech" computer jobs in Fl
most now require you to already have a security clearance. No clearance too bad.

2. When Will They Be Fined For Illegal Zoning?
i mean, typically, manufacturing has to move to those metro areas specifically zoned for manufacturing activities. You can't just have factories located helter skelter all over town. In most US cities, manufacturing occurs down by the RR tracks. Also, will the employees be required to wear yellow hard hats?

4. Here is the story from the Daily News
Making Big Macs builds jobs?

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/166533p-145751c.html

A White House wonk says building a Big Mac is a manufacturing job.
Fast-food jobs should not be considered service sector work because it actually is "combining inputs to manufacture a product" - and should be reclassified as manufacturing work, Gregory Mankiw wrote in the Bush administration's annual economic report.

Democrats accused President Bush's chief economist of trying to mask the fact that 2.2 million high-wage jobs have been lost since Bush took office.

"Unable to stop the hemorrhaging of American manufacturing jobs, the Bush administration is offering up some world-class job creation sleight of hand: Change the definition of what constitutes a manufacturing job," griped Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.).

That is great news, During our county platform meeting we lamented the fact that our public schools were not producing the $2 a day work force that American business needs

6. Transforming inputs
Given the new definition of manufacturing, every american manufactures shit from food. The inputs are combined and results are made. That is a huge creation of manufacturing jobs... thanks
bush.

12. real! part of the Friday news dump

this ripe turd is in the same report that claimed the 2.6 million jobs and came from the clown that said 'outsourcing' was a good thing.

but yes, they are considering changing the official definition of 'manufacturing' so they can instantly ADD 10 of thousands of manufacturing 'jobs'

there's just no end to their madness

14. How about "manufacturing babies?"
I put this on another thread that seemed to go nowhere so...in the spirit of the latest WH idea:
Seriously, that would bump up those numbers! Every baby born is "manufactured" by its parents and provides at least *one* job that involves "labor" right? Shouldn't all of those mothers be classified as having a "manufacturing" job? If we really want to get Orwellian, we can then say that the fathers are "job creators!"

If you are a Replicant Party member, this is win-win for your boy Chimpo*----

18. helps with that "guest worker" program as well!
there is no end to the way that "manufacturing babies" as a job helps the economy! That panders to someone or other in some voting block---mainly Latinos that he courts with insulting "programs" that are phony.

I'm serious, if ketchup could sucessfully become a 'vegetable' in the 80s under Reagan, burger flippin' is GOING to be a "manufacturing job" so, why fight it, surrender...

Myself? I'm going to damage the economy by washing my car in my own driveway rather than "creating jobs" by going for the 15.00 automated wash where ex cons dry the bumpers. My bad I guess.
