If they fail to live up to this standard, they are subject to removal through the impeachment process (which is, imho, exactly what should be done to Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy and O'Connor -- followed by prosecution).

Justice Abe Fortas was one of those who was forced into resigning due to Nixon. Nixon wanted to pack the courts with the usual right winged idiots and Fortas was a liberal. (Hmmm... just like someone else we know who wants to pack courts.) Like so much of what Nixon did, forcing Fortas resignation was criminal.

Yes, if the climate is right, Scalia can be impeached or forced into resignation for his obvious corruption.
