I wish our gas price would drop to $1.50.
Don't worry. As soon as Murika has to pay over $2.00, we'll hear the grumbling again. When it goes to $3.00, probably some of the Bushies will suddenly discover their guy isn't so great, after all. I told the dh that my little Subaru and I are looking forward to the belly-aching when the Hummer-patriots have to pay over $60 to fill their tanks.

3. Summer is travel time. |
|
Interstate gas stations always charge alot more. Forcasts I have seen predict $3.00/ga. this summer. This could be a big issue.

Gotta keep that story unheard so Bushie can get more campaign funds. I'm being sarcastic.

6. Repugs only complain about gas prices with a Dem. pres. |
|
They won't peep with Bush* in charge. And when other Americans finally wake up and realize they're getting raped on gas prices, the Repugs will wave the 9/11, war on terror flag.
Then the oil companies will start dropping the price right after the Repug convention.

Those Hummer drivers will charge more for what they do and sell to fill the tank. If they are doctors, bigger charges. If they own a grocery chain, vegetables will cost more, etc. etc. In other words, we who drive modest cars will be filling their tanks.

9. And instead of discontinuing those ridiculous tax cuts |
|
They gave out to the rich, the Republicans want to create a new gas tax to pay for the highway bill. Yeah, that sounds fair. /sarcasm

13. San Diego, $2.06 gal. |
|
And thats the cheap ARCO gas too. You'd think with all the free oil that they're stealing in Iraq the price would go down.

14. Hurray, Peak Oil may already be with us! |
|
Live it up while you can, because once the cheap and abundant oil runs out, there will only be ever more expensive and ever more scarce remaining, as production falls and demand continues to grow. The economic fallout will be a sight to see. Peak Oil will make the Great Depression look like a hiccup in the economy.

for the poor folks that cant afford anything but a big gas guzzler. They spend more for gas and probably cant afford to keep it tuned so they can get the best mileage from it.
That being said, I went to fill my tank at 1.57,9.8 Gal was 15.00 the guy in the Expedition next to me paid A LOT more. I love it, I can get 300+ Miles on my 9 gal.
Dave<--------90 CRX Si, great fun, and, great gas mileage.

It never fails to amaze me that gas prices hovering around the $2 mark are outrageous, yet a gallon of coke, which is flavored water is more than double that and no one blinks

18. Its Because Of The Drop In Value Of The Dollar |
|
There's plenty of oil on the market, the drop in price is mostly due to the falling dollar. OPEC put into place a 4% production cut at its last meeting (2/10 if I remember correctly) in order to stop the drop of prices this summer but for a much more fundamental reason as well. When the dollars are worth less the OPEC members want more of them for their commodity - you would too.
Here's something for you: During the last term of the Clinton administartion the refinery utilization rate in this country never dropped below 97%. In the last year its never risen above 95%. That should tell you something - the refinerys in our country are not making the fuel from the crude they have on stock. Supply and demand in action on that front too. Have you looked at the profitability of the oil companys this year? Up again.
Now, setting gas cost aside for just a moment, compare your mutual fund that's based on US stocks with one by the same fund company that is based on foreign stocks. Notice a difference?
The price of fuel is just he tip of the economic collapse iceberg that this rusted hull is headed straight for.
