Laura Bush stood by her man on the campaign trail yesterday, blasting Democratic allegations that President Bush cut corners on his National Guard obligations three decades ago.

"I think it's a political, you know, witch hunt, actually, on the part of the Democrats," the First Lady told the Associated Press in an interview published yesterday.

"He knows that he served honorably," she added. "He knows that he showed up the whole time."

She was even tougher in an ABC interview, saying of Democratic Party chairman Terry McAuliffe: "I don't think it's really fair to lie ... he made it up."

I kinda like seeing her trotted out as, except for the Minnie Pearl Repugnicans, I don't think too many woman view her as a "role model" or has any influence in the way they think...and definitely nowhere near the way Hillary did and still does.
