1. Call me a nut, but, has anyone considered that terraforming is ongoing?
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 12:12 AM by nu_duer
Yeah, that's what I said.

Is it possible that the current decay and imminent collapse of the planet's ecosphere is not accidental, but by design?

If that seems unfathomable, consider the subject matter at large. This article speaks of global chaos caused by environmental disaster - in less than twenty years. And our fearless leader insists the problem doesn't exist.

Does it really seem that far-fetched that these changes are being brought about for a reason?

on edit: I am merely asking the question. What was considered possible, tho, the depths that could be scraped, the worst case scenario - has been completely and frighteningly redefined by the gang of ??? that are now in control of our government.

What used to seem outlandish and rediculous now gives me pause.

2. This is the crux of the issue
...the 'conveyor belt' of the world's oceans
this is scary stuff
and this particular article
only tells the story in a surface way
but it is important reading

4. Nuclear?!
Everything else, quite likely.

But nuclear? Only if Pakistan nukes India because they don't get all those lucrative IT jobs... :eyes:

Using nukes in retaliation for dwindling food and oil supplies... hmm...

5. No, nuclear is likely.
Consider...A has resources (food, water, oil, timber, whatever) and B needs them. A has barely enough for their own needs...

B decides to take some of A's stuff by force. A starts to lose. A decides to go nuclear to avoid losing. :nuke:

Or...

B has a nuke. B smiles wanly and says...give us thus-and-such, or we nuke your capitol. A can either launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike, pay the extortion, or have the capitol nuked. :nuke: :nuke:

I'm sure others can come up with additional scenarios.

Keep in mind that India and Pakistan don't have enough distance between themselves to have more than a few minutes warning between a launch and detonation - so the pressure to use 'em or lose 'em is enormous. :nuke:

Not very stable, eh?

8. A simple minded pResident doesn't understand science
The only way that man will understand the implications of the Pentagon report is if it were written like Eric Carle ("Hungry Caterpillar" author)
