He lied
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 11:58 PM by The Lone Liberal
About winning a fair election
About serving honorably in the military
About being an honest businessman
About his drunk driving arrest
About him being just a “good ole boy” like the rest of us
About the scientific evidence on arsenic in drinking water
About the scientific evidence on global warming
About the safety of air quality at ground zero on 9-11
About who the tax cuts benefited
About the fact that Ken Lay was a very good and long-time friend
About Weapons of Mass Destruction
About the need to land on a carrier

Bush has lied and lied again

The question is why should we trust him when he or his administration turns out information that new jobs are being created and that unemployment is going down?

1. You forgot the most important thing...
..the one that has killed nearly 550 Americans and the gods only know how many Iraqis.

That Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

2. He just turned burger slinging into
a manufacturing job, see manufacturing is alive and well in Amurika!
Sometimes, I thump my head, but I'm not dreaming.
Why aren't people in the streets saying: Impeach the whole lot!
Of course he wasn't elected, maybe he can be tried for overthrow of the government. That is a high crime!

6. I missed the thread too. Care to give us the link?
What he has said is somewhat shocking, and defintiely eyebrow-rasig for a newbie, but I'm not going to label him just yet... But if these Dem comments had been taken out of context, we need to see it and this message is a perfect link-in.

13. I can't find it
I just completed a DEEP manual search of the archives. I really could use that DU seach function right now. The original thread was someone looking to refute a right-wing email on why Democrats also were claiming that Saddam had WMD. I know it cannot be more than a week old.

11. Intelligence has ALWAYS been F****d up.
The difference is that Georgie and his neocon pals felt it was sufficient to wage a preemptive war over. That was wrong. That was bogus.

That was not the position of the previous administration. They worked with sanctions, pressure, etc. etc. etc., but preemptive war was not on the table over "intelligence". That was Bush's idea.

Everyone I knew last year who had any experience with the typical intel products we put out had raised eyebrows over Bushco's utter certainty that the weapons were there. In MASSIVE amounts. With big missiles, too!!!

I knew better.
They knew better.
Most of the world knew better.
The previous administration knew better.
Bush didn't.

See the difference?

9. Each of those officials based

Their comments and analysis on information provided by the Bush administration. Notice the dates of the quotes, everyone is during the time Bush was putting out disinformation.

12. Just like the man said, most made during the bush misinformation era.
Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001
Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan.23.2003

And, the very real issue of context also weakens your case.

5. One reason unemployment is going down:
Many people are off the unemplyment roles simply b/c their benefits have run out - not b/c they have actually found a job.

8. And he lied about being
compassionate, and he lied about not reading newspapers, and he lied when he said there was enough money to give big tax cuts, pay down the debt, fix social security and still have enough left for "contingencies".
