What would happen if..

Edwards demolishes Kerry in the upcoming debates, wins more states than expected in the upcoming primaries, Kerry plummets in the polls, and Edwards becomes the clear favorite among democrats, BUT going into the convention, Kerry still technically has more delegets, what kind of pressure would be on him to drop out, would it be expected, what scenario would most likely play out?

I know this is a lot "what if," but I'm still curious what would happen.
