anyone else worried about Pakistan..? |
|
General Musharrafs public announcements that Pakistan will continue to expand its nuclear program and the recent revelations that a leading scientist Dr Abdul Khan was in fact selling nuclear technology to members of the "axis of evil"..has drawn little or no response from the worlds sheriff or indeed any members of the posse..
quote from the leading gunfighter..DONALD RUMSFELD, US DEFENSE SECRETARY: I have been impressed with the way President Musharraf has been addressing it thus far.
although others offer an alternate view..
GEORGE PERKOVICH, CARNEGIE ENDOWMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL PEACE: What Pakistan has done is the most threatening activity of nuclear proliferation in history.
It's impossible to overstate how damaging this is.
seems under the current laws of the jungle , pakistan should brace itself for an invasion along the lines of afghanistan and iraq..we know it has WMDs and has exported them..it is a military dictatorship with free elections suspended ...stay tuned..

9-11. They're our friends. Iraq had no ties - we attack them. Reagan and Bush 1 trained and financed al Quada and allowed the Taliban to take over by walking away from Afghanistan. And here is another Bush more interested in oil that justice. Bush is setting this country up to use nuclear missles whenever the commander in thief wants to invade another "enemy". I am more worried about Bush and the republicans because they are enabling all of this.

3. save the worry for Syria |

Pakistan will only have to worry if the large numbers of fundies there manage to pull off a coup of some sort - as long as it's run by a dictator of our choosing Pakistan will not face any US aggression

a huge part of Pakistan is lawless and is not under control of the federal government there.
Also, the pakistan secret police do their own things and support terrorists.
Musharef has only partial control of the country and the government.

I've been arguing this on DU for a long time.
In fact, when we didn't deal with Pakistan after 9/11 and instead moved onto Iraq, that's when I started to smell a rat about 9/11.
Pakistan is everything that Iraq was accused of being.
They have WMD's, they have an unstable government, they are selling nuclear arms on the international market, they are commanded by a dictator, and they are harboring the worst terrorists in the world.
After 9/11, if Osama bin Laden and Al Quaeda actually committed it (which I now doubt because of our reaction to Pakistan), we should have not only invaded Afghanistan, but Pakistan as well. Cleaned the place up, looked under every rock.
I was reading about Pakistan long before 9/11
