Poll question: WHERE do your loyalties primarily lie? |
|
Where do your loyalties PRIMARILY lie?
A psychotic veteran ranting about "If you don't like this country, get the hell out" and walking down the street made me ponder this question.
For me, it's family by a long shot, and "human society" would be second - I think nationalism is nonsense.

"Don't let your marriage interfere with your job"
I found a much better job.

4. humanity because my father is a die hard republican. |

We have fought bitterly over politics and have agreed to disagree. Regardless, I love him all the same. So, my loyalty is not necessarily to family (as they can be wrong on things) as I am to humanity. You can't go wrong with that.

6. Ones country is important... |

...however, if your country becomes a rogue nation, and you have the ability to get out you can. But your family can never be replaced.
I would give up my country in a heart beat to be with Sapphocrat. She is my family!

I'm afraid I'd have to turn her in. My family happens to fall within the "humanity" spectrum.

as long as I have the luxury of helping society I'll do it, but I'm not going to get myself killed over it.

11. I don't agree with the "either/or" of this poll... |
|
For me, as a deeply spiritual person, by believing in "God" I am also naturally believing in family and humanity. Country is just a man-made abstraction, and is completely neutral -- capable of supporting family/humanity or opposing it.

12. To the Constitution of the United States, to government of we the people, |

of, by and for the people rather than for special or vested interests. Sadly both major political parties have failed monstrously, the Republicans much more so, IMHO.
