Bush Twins Not Republicans
She's no Republican Party girl

First Daughter Barbara Bush may be devoted to her father, but not necessarily to his party.

Recently, a source asked the 21-year-old Barbara if she was a Republican. "She made a funny face and rolled her eyes," reports our snitch. "She said, 'I really wouldn't label myself that.'"

Texas records show that Barbara and her twin, Jenna, voted as Republicans in the 2000 presidential primary. But one source contends the good-time gals "don't buy into the conservative movement. They don't agree with their father's position on environment and other issues."

A White House spokesman declined to comment. But the Bushes might want to tune in to "48 Hours" next month, when it's due to air a story about the President's fun-loving daughters. Word is that the CBS show and other programs have been bidding for footage of Barbara's now-famous hair-swirling dance with Ecuadoran socialite Fabian Basabe at the Feb. 12 party at Viscaya - captured by our Richard Corkery - after Jennifer Nicholson's fashion show. Barbara's parents are said to be vexed by the publicity surrounding the forbidden dance with party boy Basabe.

I will look forward to seeing their story on 48 Hours, it should be eye-opening!!

4. I've always thought that the girls were very unconcerned about it...
politics that is. I can believe they don't follow the conservative party line. They don't have to ever be concerned about politics - they have the luxury of being born rich and the politics that we fight for will never ever affect their lives.

Unless going to war protest is how you define "unconcerned."

5. LOL
I watched one of the 2000 debates with her - I didn't know who she was at the time and there were a bunch of other people there. I said something about her Daddy and she got angry and cried. When I figured out who she was, I felt kind of bad for about a minute and a half, until Bush said something that was even more laughably stupid.

6. If, goddess forbid, that were my father
I never would've gone out in public to watch the debates. I'd imagine she has toughened up a tad since then, as she has certainly heard her father called the moran in chief more than once - among other things!

10. One would hope so
It was a private party, not "out in public," but she seemed genuinly upset and surprised that there were Democrats there who didn't like her daddy. I don't remember exactly what I said, but I don't think it was all that mean either. She'd better have toughened up, otherwise she's been enduring a living hell.

34. well, he's the only dad she's got ...
It's too bad that he doesn't seem to be as loyal to her, in return. Any father who'd tell, not just strangers, but the media, that his daughters were "whiners" ... repeatedly ... isn't being very supportive.

I know that families can "play rough" with insults (mine, for example) -- but airing these kind of jibes in public is a bit much, even for someone as flippant as Dubya.

11. Cheers To Ron Reagan...The REAL Communicator
One of the brighter moments on the MessyGOP coverage this year is the addition of Ron Reagan...he's been spot-on with his analysis and holds his own, if not better against any GOOP spinster (watching him box around Pegs Noonan and Joey Scarborough is a delight).

What a contrast compared to his oafish half-brother who is sucking off the name and had little to no contact with his father...especially in his years in politics. This screw always says "my father"...almost to convince himself of the fact.

I haven't seen/heard from Patti Davis in a long time...I have heard she's been helping with her parents and while I didn't agree with Maureen, I admired her for her stand on women's issues.

Who cares what the Anheiser-Bush twins do or think. Hopefully some of us are above piling on family members outside the limelight and not defrauding the government (ya know, I can't think of a Bushbot that doesn't)...oh nevermind.

31. Michael isn't even a half-brother
He's an adoptive half-brother – no shared blood at all. Funny how Michael is so close to his "father" all of a sudden, when before Ronnie's brain checked out, he and Nancy barely spoke to him and ignored his grandchildren's existence. When Ronnie was president, Michael's claim to fame was speedboat racing and cashing in on the Reagan name.

I have heard Pickles refer to herself as a "Republican by marriage" -- perhaps the girls inherited their politics from mom?

22. Ugh
typical repuke wife; once married you lose your complete identity (political/religious/social beliefs) to your husband's. I have no faith in the twins. Once their party years are over (whenever that will be), they will go on to a country club marriage and, like their mother, forget their youthful ideals and indiscretions.

24. Repug disinformation
The whole clan will toe the party line. You can bank on it. The twins are young and carefree, but in a few years when they get into the family business, they'll be the usual right wing zombies.

They always paint their womenfolk as a little soft and caring on social issues. They use that to take the edge off the men.

Pickles was too stupid to have a political party. She latched on to Boy Blunder and that was enough for her. Rove tells her what to believe and she believes it.

29. standard Bush family bs
Their propaganda always tells us that the Bush women are "more liberal" than their husbands/sons/fathers. It is a sly wink at the pro-choice female Republican voters.
