DearMary.com (anti-marriage amendment) on O'Really tonight
just got this email from John Avarosi:

Just a quick update to let you know that I'll be
appearing on the FOX cable TV show 'The O'Reilly Factor' tonight,
Monday February 23, 2004, to discuss our new Web campaign DearMary.com.
The show is on at 8pm Eastern, and rerun 3 hours later (i.e., 11pm
Eastern). Check your local listings if you live in another part of the
country.

As you may recall, DearMary.com is a new project of DontAmend.com
challenging Mary Cheney, the openly lesbian daughter of the vice
president, to speak out against the amendment to ban gay marriage, and
lots of other rights, in the US Constitution.

Of course, the site is about more than simply hoping Mary Cheney speaks
out.

WHY DEARMARY.COM?

DearMary.com is about exposing VP Dick Cheney's hypocrisy in saying
he'd support a constitutional amendment that would make his own
daughter a second-class citizen. It's about the Bush-Cheney team
refusing to even comment on "the Mary factor" when they had no problem
using Mary to woo gay money and gay votes as their gay poster child two
years ago when she was on the board of a national gay Republican group,
and four years ago during the 2000 presidential election when they
thought having a gay kid would make them look like compassionate
conservatives. And finally, the site is about making the point that if
Bush-Cheney want to publicly legislate whether the most personal
relationships of our family members are even valid, then they should be
no less willing to discuss the validity of those relationships in their
own families. They can't say it's a private matter in their family, yet
a very public matter in mine.
