4. I doubt W will invade anyone before the election |

The 2 main items on his plate at the moment is finding Osama and securing the pipelines in Iraq.
At the moment, we are launching another major operation in Afghanistan. At the same time the Pakistani Army is launching an offensive from their side of the border. A lot of people in between are going to be killed, especially if they bring in air power.
W's second big problem are Iraq's northern oil fields. Since the US took over Iraq we have not been able to move oil out of Kirkuk. There are millions of barrels being put in reserve because the Iraqis keep blowing up the pipelines. My guess is that the oil companies who own W, are not too happy right now. The only thing the oil companies care about is keeping the oil flowing and W isn't delivering. I think US troops are going to pull out of the Iraqi cities and focus on protecting the oil infrastructure. If W can secure the pipelines, or figure some other way to get the oil out of Kirkuk it should hit the market right around Sept., just in time for the convention. Gas will go from $3.00 to $1.50 and W will win the day.

5. ??? On Friday, prices were $1.73/g. Today they were back to $1.58 |
|
In suburban Minnesota...
There was an article last Wednesday that OPEC was cutting collection rates. Which was probably why we got that $1.73 surge... why did it go back down though, that's more interesting...

... today $1.71 — prices are always up on the weekend. Here in West Michigan, you've got to fill up before Wednesday or Thursday AM. It goes up 10¢-15¢, then trickles down a few pennies after Sunday.
We haven't been below $1.60 for what seems like a long time!

8. Gas has been over $30 per barrel since about Thanksgiving Day |
|
The real question is, why did the pump prices just start rising a couple of weeks ago? If it were Memorial Day, and the barrels cost $34 like they do today, then gas will be over $2 per gallon around here. This would be a good question for the Secretary of Energy, if we had one that wasn't bought and paid for by the energy industry.

... Bush* is going to invade anybody. Our armed forces have their hands full already. They are desparately trying to prevent Iraq from falling into civil war and that is going to take everything they've got.
Oil is high for various reasons, and OPEC has announced that they will cut production to raise prices even further. It is only a matter of time before those who have oil are going to engage in price gouging simply because they can. It may be starting already.

11. Why the hell shouldn't they raise prices. |
|
I mean really? Who is going to stop them? The administration? Congress?
I don't think they feel they owe us an explanation
