12. I shouldn't have to mention this...
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 02:56 PM by htuttle
...but I've been asked by over a dozen people about it since these new viruses showed up (I do computer support as part of my jobs).

Macs and Linux computers are immune to these viruses. So stop worrying if you have a Mac or a Linux machine. The virus has no effect on your computer.

Seriously -- this week I've already gotten lots of calls (even at home) about this from colleagues, friends, etc... who have Macs who didn't realize this, and were about to freak out when they got one in their email. And it's only Tuesday!

So again: Don't worry if you don't use Windows. If you get one in the mail, just delete it. If you feel curious, and you're running a Mac, go ahead and examine it to your heart's content -- it's just inert bytes on your machine if it's not running Windows.

It would be awfully nice if news releases would mention this when they put out the 'Virus Panic' warnings...It would save a lot of headaches for those of us who support non-Windows machines. I suppose that M$ wouldn't particularly like that distinction being drawn on each warning, however...

13. This virus is a bitch.
I was at work for 16 hours yesterday. I was put up in a hotel overnight and came in early. A couple of others also spent the whole night working.
