Can we make voter registration a DU-wide project?
We need to register voters. We need to register voters. We need to register voters...ones with a "D" beside their names, that is.

Is there some way we can have a running tally of all the voters DUers have signed up until the registration deadlines?

I read an article today in our local major paper (the Oregonian) that showed voter registration has actually DROPPED in this state for both Dems. and Repubs. since 2000, despite population growth. The unfortunate part is that the Dems. lost more voters than the Repubs., thus narrowing the gap between the two in this swing state. Dems. hold a tiny, tiny registration advantage here. We need to boost it up in the Northwest and all over the country.

Anyone else like this idea? Thanks.

1. We need to make them go and vote TOO!

I've wasted too many 15 hour days working the polls here in San Francisco only to have 150 of the 1000 registered voters in my precinct show up.

3. No...we need to make "voting" mandatory...
make people vote...participate in the electoral process.

4. Even people who think they are already registered...
need to make double certain that they in fact are. Would you believe that I was not allowed to vote in 2000? Add one more vote to the popular majority that Gore enjoyed, because that's where my vote would've gone. I showed up to the polling place only to find that my name had been purged from the voter roll. I even called the election board that day and was told the there was no sign of me. A county that I had voted in many times before. So I always harp at people to make sure they are registered, even if they think already they are.
