Barney Frank supposedly knows who the gay GOPers are
If I recall the anecdote from The Clinton Wars. He threatened to call them out during Gingrich's rumor-mongering, saying Tom Foley was gay. (The threat worked.)

If the furor builds up, as Bush wants it to, I hope that Frank considers outing some gay GOP Senators and Representatives.

This is no time for kid gloves.

1. No thanks
Kid gloves is one thing. Playing politics with sexual identity and "outing" those with whom we disagree is wrong. Surely we can run on the issues? A person's sexual preference is NOT an issue - unless we want to be hypocrites.

2. Fuck em. They're trying to destroy the Constitution to ruin those
citizens who are gay. I think it's not only very politically expendient, it's both politically and personally very just.

6. Different values I guess

Good people can disagree. I think it's a mistake to "out" people who aren't prepared for that. It's also ridiculous to say that ALL Republicans, who might be gay, are out to destroy the constitution. The "fuck 'em" attitude won't get the Democratic Party far - last I checked this is still a democracy, and being a Republican isn't a crime worthy of emotional/sexual blackmail.

9. Not on any issue. But on this one: absolutely.
This isn't DOMA. This is the first time the Constitution will be amended to sap human dignity and freedom.

Every hypocrite--regardless of howso a hypocrite--who votes for the Amendment needs to be exposed as such.

3. I wouldn't want to "out" those who supported the Tax Cuts
But on this I think it's perfectly appropriate.

4. If being a hypocrite on this issue will help break the Repukes
.... I'm for it. I'd trust Barney on this one. Enough is enough.

20. Outing hypocritical Nazi Republicans IS Fair Game
Sorry, we disagree.

When Nazi Republicans talk the talk but don't walk the walk they should be exposed for the phony hypocrites that they are!

5. Outing people is fair
if you have personally had gay sex with them, and you also out yourself. Is Barney saying he gave Frist a BJ? Inquiring minds want to know.

13. I think it's not important.
We really have to work on who is an asshole. Remember Hitler's original SA (or SS, I forget) were gay. Hitler didn't care until it became politically undesirable for him. Then he had them murdered before they were exposed. Perhaps we should let this play out.

15. It was baloney
He had a good laugh later when he admitted he didn't have any congressmen in mind. He bluffed, they folded. Repubs played hardball, he smacked that crap right back into their camp. It's one of the reasons I love Barney, he doesn't take shit from wingers.

D.C. has to be a pretty small town with more buzz. Lots of gossip gets dished. Barney knows. Let him dangle them. Surely he could find out all sorts of stuff and do tons of damage if he was inclined.
