You were manipulated by evil if you saw C. Browns Great Pumpkin
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 12:14 AM by zwade
thats about how lame these attacks on the Passion are..

If you dont like it dont see it... Its a movie.. some will read into it whatever they want.. some wont like it.. some will.. but jeez.. to pretend it is an assualt personnally is stupid... simply out of some disgust for religion...

Whats next? Slamming Jews, Muslims, and Budhist? Kick an old lady who has a cross on her necklace?

Intolerance by agnostics is as disgusting as Religous Right Falwell Bs..

Those types of people are the SAME... put on a hood and parade around burning crosses or walk around slamming christians...

Yeah.. you have your freedom of speech to do it.. but IMO you are
Two sides of the SAME coin..

1. Give it a rest...
Equating people who slam a movie with the Klan is pretty stupid.

4. Sorry.. I dislike intolerance...
I dont like * bashing gays..
I dont like DU bashing christians
I dont like the clan bashing minorities
I dont like Freepers bashing muslims..

I fail to see the difference with the intolerance of different peoples beliefs..

Everyone should be able to do what they dig..

You know FREEDOM!

Yeah that.

Maybe both parties are forgetting now.

6. "Everyone should be able to do what they dig.."
Tell that to the Christian nutjobs who insist on coming onto my private property every weekend to try and sell me on their fairy tale. Or, the ones who can't keep their beliefs out of my government...

2. it's. just. publicity. for. a. MOVIE!!!
A movie: a product made by a large corporation with the intent of having many gazillions of people spend money to see it.

It's not a work of art, it's a business.

Maybe because I work in the film business, I have a different (more real) point of view, but GOOD GOD I've never seen so much free publicity for a film ever in my life.

It's gonna make a ton of money and now there's gonna be sequels. You just watch. "Let's make something vaguely controversial, but still very conservative, maybe something about Moses this time!"

3. The company I keep?
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 12:34 AM by Generic Other
The company I keep does not burn crosses on the lawns of neighbors. Neither do they covet the widow's retirement check and feed her rightwing lies in order to enrich themselves. The company I keep did not invoke the name of god in an effort to justify warmongering. The company I keep does not molest the little children who are entrusted to their care. The company I keep does not condemn the poor and praise the rich. The company I keep does not believe they have the right to judge the actions of others while demanding that their own actions never be held up to judgment. The company I keep does not attempt to control the behavior of others when they cannot control their own behavior.

Who among us is known by the company he keeps?

on edit: This post in response to the comment now edited out of the original post. "Be proud of the company you keep."

7. Locking
Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forum.

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.

2. The subject line of a discussion thread must accurately reflect the actual content of the message.

3. The subject line of a discussion thread may not include profanity or swear words, even if words or letters are replaced by asterisks, dashes, or abbreviations.

4. The subject line and the entire text of the message which starts the thread may not include excessive capitalization, or excessive punctuation.

5. If you post an article or other published content which is from a conservative source or which expresses a traditionally conservative viewpoint, you must state your opinion about the piece and/or the issues it raises.

6. You may not start a new discussion thread in order to continue a current or recent flame war from another thread. The moderators have the authority to lock threads in order to contain flaming on a particular topic to only one thread at a time.

7. Discussion topics about the Democratic presidential primary are not permitted in the General Discussion forum, and instead must be posted in the General Discussion: 2004 Primary forum. Passing references to the Democratic primary candidates are permitted, provided that the overall topic of discussion is not directly related to the presidential primary or the primary candidates.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
DU moderator
