Question is, why does it bother you that Christians believe?
Does Jesus make you feel uncomfortible? I mean all you have to do is believe and admit past mistakes right? So what is so had with that? Oh, I see it is better to live as you do than to make a change in yourself. And if I may, we Christians new we would be hated and insulted long before this movie ever was thought of. And if I may add this last little part, you may hate us, but we love you!
May God Bless you all :)

2. how about
that jesus was showing the ultimate love to the people that were doing this to him. that is what he is about that is the greater message for me. yes in it was dying for the sin, but it was about all these people fearful adn jeering him and he loving them thru out, why arent we hearing that this is the message and this is the jest that it isnt being true to what was given to us in this.

7. I agree, that should be the message
But I think there is a more darker reason. Yes I belive in Satan, and I think he does not want people to see this movie. Many will slam me and insult me for that comment, but oh well!

3. Who said we hated Christians?
Christianity is a beutiful thing and is very pure in it's lines of thinking.

It is when people take it too fundamentally and are too stupid to see the underlying messages.

I'm uncomfortable with people making policy decision that affect a whole country based on works of fiction.

5. The Christians I know don't generalize, and are not sanctimonious
all traits which you exhibit--so it makes it hard for me to believe that you have honestly accepted Christ into your life as anything more than another tool to be rude.

6. Please do not set up a straw man
If there are a few folks at DU who "hate" what some purport to call Christianity, they are the exceptions.

What I -- and I suppose many others -- object to is the imposition of a certain brand of Christianity on the culture and the state. It amounts to Spiritual Imperialism. The Passion and the Same Sex Ammendment, and all the rest of it are -- in sum -- highly agressive attempts to divide the world into "True Believers" and "infidels." That is, in my view, ultimately a path of destruction.

If Christaians have a better way -- The Only Way as many of them would claim -- then let them demonstrate it in their lives and words. That kind of Living Example in my understanding (and I am a Christian, but not by the definition of some "non-profit" religious bureacracy) is what Christ's life and teachings were about. You are, of course, welcome to disagree; my faith is not so weak that I am threatened by other people's perception of what is true and important. I also believe in democracy.

To try and impose your spiritual views on other people is a violation of free will. It's that simple. That's what I -- and I suppose others -- object to.

8. It bothers me that too many Christians are incapable of doing two things:
1) Actually reading and comprehending their own holy book.
2) Engaging any sort of critical thought with regards to their holy book.

At that point, I don't care what the hell you believe. But I'm not going to take someone's argument seriously if they themselves haven't given it any real thought.

BTW, I find it interesting that someone with such a low post count would make such a non-sequiter that seems to reference common right-wing misconceptions about liberals. Odd, that...

9. Locking--GD rules
Rules to start discussion threads in the General Discussion forum

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.

Stating that members of DU "hate Christians" is inflamatory--and for the record, the moderator locking this is a practicing Christian.
