How can I find divorce rate statistics for Democrats and Republicans?
I googled this every way I could think of and didn't get what I'm looking for.

A rock-ribbed right winger told me the other day that "Democrats are the ones who always get divorced." I guess that explains why Reagan was the only divorced president in our nation's history.

Anyway, that got me thinking if there were a difference in divorce rates between people who identified with one party or the other.

2. Did you tell him about
Limballs, Gingrich, Neil Bush....etc???? Seems to me they are all repukes. I'm sure there are a number of Dems who divorce, as well. There's no doubt. But these 3 are very good examples of that famous repuke family value BS:

Neil Bush stating in his divorce that he got herpes from an Asian hooker while cheating on his wife;

Limballs is on his 3rd marriage, and he met her over the Internet;

And let's not forget the moralist Mr. Gringrich, who married his first wife to get out of Vietnam; then visited her in the hospital while she was recovering from cancer surgery to talk divorce - failed to pay alimony and child support for his 2 daughters. Then married wife #2 saying she was the love of his life, and while still married carried on an affair with his Congressional aide, whom he married after divorcing wife #2.

And I remember reading somewhere, a while ago, about that group of repukes that Gringich brought to power in '94 on their "family values" agenda..that a majority of those repukes got divorced before their terms expired. You might try googling that.

Good luck

3. good question
What I managed to find was this article from atheists. org http://www.atheists.org/flash.line/divorce1.htm
and an article on divorce rates in the bible belt being extremely high.

The declaration affirming support of legal status for covenant marriage arrangements comes amidst news reports on the rampant wave of divorce in the nation's "Bible Belt" region. Census data and other findings have revealed that the divorce rate in states which are bastions of fundamentalist Christianity are roughly 50 percent above the national average. It has led to concern, and even grandstanding from church leaders and politicians.

But overall I would imagine the divorce rate is probably pretty much the same across the political spectrum.

6. Not sure but Barna did a poll last year that had Atheists with the lowest.
...divorce rates. Evangelicals the worst.

7. Not exactly what you're looking for
but Googling for comparisons of Red and Blue States raises a ton of data showing that the so-called heartland isn't as pure or self-reliant as it's made out to be -- they have more divorces, crime, illegitimate births, etc.

Look for the 50-60 yr olds with 3 - 10 yr old kids.. Chances are that the Mom is a 2nd or 3rd..

There are not many "first wives" of those ages that are popping out babies :evilgrin:

These old geezers like the young trophy wives..(not JUST politicians) because it makes THEM seem young and vigorous :(

I know that some may have beed widowed, but I do think that republicans do seem to be married numerous times..

The hypocrisy is what bothers me most.. I know that divorce is here and probably will never leave, but when a party bases its entire philosophy on "righteous and moral" attributes, and cannot seem to honor their marriage vows to the ONE person they have pledged their undying LOVE to, then I am rather suspect of their other capabilities :(
