Jeez! Where are Daschle and Pelosi on the Marriage Ammendment?!?
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 11:32 AM by John_H
They're letting the House and Senate Rethugs bury it without a fight!

The GOP doesn't ever want to vote on this thing. They just want to talk about it until the election. Daschle and Pelosi ought to be screaming to high heaven to have a vote on it NOW. I bet Frist and Delay won't even get 2/3 of the GOP let alone 2/3 of both houses.

Man, am I sick of their utter wimpiness. LBJ, we need you.

1. Pelosi had a reaction last night, Daschle is still sniveling
Daschle is such a wimpy, spaghetti-spine loser.

Pelosi was incensed at Bush for even thinking of modifying the Constitution.

Good, sounds like Pelosi might actually be better than Daschle and Gephardt.

We need leaders who will LEAD, not hide in a corner when something controversial comes up.

13. Represents the working class, helps us keep two seats in SD...
But after his re-election I think it's time for him to go. We can give him a ranking membership or hopefully chair of some committee.

4. Daschle
Daschle has gone to bat on many occasions. I believe a response will be forthcoming. This issue is not going away this week. It is better to formulate a cogent and corroboratory response first. I think Kerry's response was great. I hope Daschle uses at least as strong of language.

7. Wow. What a forceful response.

"Senate Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) said he opposes a constitutional amendment because the 1996 law adequately protects marriage."

He should say: "George Bush may not think Americans are a fair minded people who cherish equality, but we Democrat's do. For that reason, I'm demanding that Senator Frist schedule a vote within ten days of the Amendment's delivery to the Senate. The Republicans are trying to divide America for political gain and it's high time to send their divisive agenda to the defeat it so richly deserves."

9. Indeed!
Didn't read the first part of the response and thought that was what Daschle actually said and was very excited. Unfortunately he whiffed the meatpitch in his wheelhouse. Maybe we can schedule vertabrae insertion surgery within 10 days.

10. Maybe Nancy is off getting more plastic surgery
as for Daschle, he's long been a lost cause. The two of them together don't have a complete spine.

14. They are right in the hip pocket of the special interests that
support them, like they always have been. It's time for a huge change.
