Ann(thrax) Coulter does it again : File under: 'Omission Accomplished'
Liberals are hopping mad about last week's column. Amid angry insinuations that I "lied" about Sen. Max Cleland, I was attacked on the Senate floor by Sen. Jack Reed, Molly Ivins called my column "error-ridden," and Al Hunt called it a "lie." Joe Klein said I was the reason liberals were being hysterical about George Bush's National Guard service.

I would have left it at one column, but apparently Democrats want to go another round. With their Clintonesque formulations, my detractors make it a little difficult to know what "lie" I'm supposed to be contesting, but they are clearly implying – without stating – that Cleland lost his limbs in combat.

It is simply a fact that Max Cleland was not injured by enemy fire in Vietnam. He was not in combat, he was not – as Al Hunt claimed – on a reconnaissance mission, and he was not in the battle of Khe Sanh, as many others have implied. He picked up an American grenade on a routine noncombat mission and the grenade exploded.

In Cleland's own words: "I didn't see any heroism in all that. It wasn't an act of heroism. I didn't know the grenade was live. It was an act of fate." That is why Cleland didn't win a Purple Heart, which is given to those wounded in combat. Liberals are not angry because I "lied"; they're angry because I told the truth.

more here, if you can stomach it

2. I would love to send
Coulter back in time to Vietnam! Combat or no combat. imagine being in a foreign land with the threat of battle looming over you everyday. Cleland at least went to Vietnam, unlike her chimp boy Bush!

3. Gee, Ann, maybe people didn't like the way you wrote the column
not the facts you presented.
Cleland lost his limbs while serving his country. His actions saved the lives of other soldiers. You insinuated that his sacrifice was somehow less because enemy fire was not involved, and managed to offend a lot more people than your column suggesting we should invade islamic countries, kill their leaders and forcibly convert their people to christianity.
Keep it up, and the only tv show you'll ever be on again is "The 700 Club".

4. Give Coulter More Rope...
As despicable as I think Coulter's comments regarding Senator Clelland may be, I hope that the right-wingers and the so-called "liberal media" give Ann Coulter yet more rope to hang herself. Someone that arrogant, that sure of themself, is bound to find a way to even more spectacularly disgrace herself in public.

In the meantime, we have Coulter's slime-throwing sticking to the Republican Party. I hope we keep circulating Ann Coulter's commentary verbatim.

Perhaps some progressive agent provocateur with a microphone can get her to start talking about Hispanics--preferably in the Southwest, California, or Florida?

8. I totally agree!
She's obviously either not too bright or she just can't control her underservingly supersized ego. I guess, from her perspective, bad press is good press....but I'll bet there are many Republicans that would like to see her just go away. I'll also bet she's clueless in her own very self-centered way on how this continued exposure of her story and follow-up does nothing but make undecided voters lean more towards the Party of true American values, Democrats.

Keep up the good work Ann....hope you can squeeze another couple of columns out of this story.

I hereby pledge to never read another Coulter column (the books never were an issue) and if I catch her on the radio or tv to immediately switch the station/channel. I will also not discuss her or her excretions on internet threads. Thanks.

Wow, that felt good. Take the pledge now, you will feel better!

7. You God Damn cross dressing freaky witch. You
don't have any concept of combat. Get your skanky slimy ass over to Iraq and try a little incoming before you sit down with your chickenshit chickenhawk poison pen. Combat means being around live ammo constantly and trust me Ann-ho, shit goes bad. Maybe you want to trade places with Max? Is that it you white wing, arm chair anal cyst loving evil GOP bastard? Cleland is a decorated Vietnam vet and I don't care how you try to twist the shit around it ain't gonna change. Now go get some french fries.

9. Franken Check...No Mention Of Silver Star!!!
Of course the Coultergiest has her short ones in a snit...she's been stuck out on the limb and no one, not even her "friends" Hannity or Scarborough are rushing to her defense.

She fails to mention the Silver Star Cpt. Cleland won several days earlier...UNDER FIRE...IN KHE SAHN...where he performed heroic acts this wench has only seen on rented snuff videos. She conveniently forgets to say that her original slander-job drew conclusions that Cleland's accident happened at Fort Dix and not in Viet Nam.

As usual, she attacks those who question her "facts"...and in this case some of her own friends.

Looks like a big turning point has happened...the RW flamethrowers aren't selling like they used to and the Liberals and Progressives are. I haven't checked but I hear Hannity's latest didn't even crack the NYT Top 50, yet alone the Top 20. O'Reilly has admitted he'll never sell as many books as Hillary (duh) and my bookshelf has never been fuller of great things to read...and my local Barnes & Noble is happy, too.

Look for RoveCo. to put her "on ice" over the next couple months...I don't expect to see her on many yakfests...and the reason will be "research on another "book"".

10. I saw an item recently that said Hannity's book was now going for 99 cents
- "a 24-dollar savings" or some such thing, according to the ad. I forget the exact figure.

They're probably all pissed that their message is no longer dominating the bestseller list. Gee. I wonder why.

18. I'm waiting for Ann to diss those men who died flying home from Iraq.
Remember that helicopter that was shot down a few months ago and about 18-20 men died? They weren't 'fighting' either. They were on a helicopter flying to an airport to get on a plane to fly home.

How about dissing them too? Or how about dissing a few of the many non-combat fatalities and injuries in Iraq?
