Now I'm all confused about "equal protection"! |
|
So let me get this straight.
It's a real stretch to argue, using the Constitutional guarantee of equal protection, that same-sex couple should be afforded the same rights and privileges afforded opposite-sex couples via the civil institution of marriage.
Yet it's perfectly reasonable to argue, using the Constitutional guarantee of equal protection, that legal votes cannot be re-counted (as state law allows) because they would have to be re-counted using different methods. Never mind the fact that they would require different methods of recounting because they are different methods of voting (which, if one is to be consistent, would invalidate the election itself).
To quote Steve Martin circa 1977: “I’M SO CONFUSED!!!” (and that’s without even getting into states’ rights)

1. The idea is to make equal protection an opt-in choice for states |
|
Once you get past the same sex marriage hotbutton, there are some very business-friendly applications there!
