The Democrats have been given a beautifully wrapped gift... |
|
With Greenspan claiming we need to reduce SS benefits because of the deficit, we can run a series of ads, much like Bush v Bush on the Daily Show.
The first is Bush talking about putting SS away in a little, secure, untouchable lockbox (as he did during the campaign) and juxtapose that with Greenspan's comments.
Next would be a juxtaposition of the Greenspan comments and Cheney's boast that "Reagan showed us that deficits don't matter".
I got news for them...they do matter. They are like the proverbial albatross around the US economy.
We need to use this kinda stuff.
Cooments?

Our numbers alone have changed every phase of American society as we have moved through it. This will be no different.
That old f*rt Greenspan better realize that he can't "control" this or "manage" this.
We have paid far more than any other generation and have even set aside money for ourselves (the first ones to ever do so).
We WILL have our Social Security! At first I was scared to death, then I realized that WE have to tell THEM that they will just have to find the money to: 1. Pay off on the Social Security "surplus" that they have borrowed from us. 2. Raise taxes on corporations and the wealthy 3. Keep our Social Security and Medicare.
We won't settle for less! And there are way too many of us to ignore us. We will replace them all!
Yeeeeaaaaaah!

3. Maybe you should suggest it to the Daily Show. |
|
They might do it because it's perfect for them.

4. We need to "soundbite" this |
|
For example:
Republicans want to cut taxes for the rich and pay for it by cutting Social Security for retirees.

also run the ad from Moveon.org that CBS refused to air.
They want to raise the age of retirement also.....a long old father time type person doing dangerous jobs would look good.
I bet the comedians are working on this now.

I thought the same thing. Signed, sealed and ready to deliver. You have to know that Bush's people are saying to themselves, 'didn't somebody say they were gonna tell that old man to keep his trap shut?'

We need to tie this stuff together for the middle of the roaders so they can see how deficits and Repug binge borrowing and spending will have serious consequences.

15. I also remember Bush* saying he would create a "Rainy Day Account" |
|
He said he would set a big pile of the surplus aside "just in case" the economy were to turn around. He said it was very unlikely that would happen especially since he was giving a huge tax cut to keep the economy humming. At no time did he say the economy was in any trouble what-so-ever. He was just going to be very wise and prepare for a down turn just to be "prudent". Well where is that "Rainy Day Account"?

21. Gore pointed out that Bush was going to use the $1 trillion to do |
|
the following: 1. Create a $1 trillion rainy day account 2. Provide $1 trillion in tax cuts 3. Can't remember what the third $1 trillion thing was.
Gore pointed out that you can't use the same $1 trillion three different times. But the press was busy talking about "earth tones" and "serial exaggerator".

11. But What About Gay Marriage??? (Sarcasm) |
|
All Gay All Day. AAARRRGGGHHHH...Enough! Please get out of our bedrooms! There are many more important issues to deal with. Besides, when I die, my partner will not be able to receive my SS survivor benefits. I guess we can count that as a boon to the government coffers.

14. Totally agree -- the Dems just won the election! |
|
As soon as I heard the Greenspan news, I thought 2 things: 1. The American people will not let that happen. 2. The Dems just won the White House.
I think Greenspan is as apalled at Bush's fiscal irresponsibility as we are, and this may just be his private chess move to stalemate the Bush admin., paving the way for Dems take proper hold of the cashbox again, and get us back on track.
What really irks me is that I grow weary of the Dems always having to clean up after the messes left behind by the Repubs. (Guess they were never properly potty-trained.)

|
Ain't that the truth! :grr: :grr:
What was the size of the surplus they were handed? What is the size of the current deficit?
If you look at a graph for the last 20 years, the high points are the Dems and the low points are the Repugs. How are they able to continue perpetuating the myth that they are better for the economy?

This should blow away the smokescreen created by the Marriage Amendment and get the focus back on the looting of the treasury by Bushco, then we can also bring up AWOL, Plame, OSP, 9/11 stonewalling, Halliburton war profiteering, etc.
