bush* inherited W(ar)O(n)T(error)? Mankiw says yes!
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 04:09 PM by FoeOfBush
From www.talkingpointsmemo.com, J(oshua)M(icah)M(arshall) has this link to W(hite)H(ouse) Q(uestion)&(and)A(nswer) session with N(ational)A(ssociation for) S(tock)CA(r)R(acing) driver
http://www.whitehouse.gov/ask/feb04.html
But look at some of the past Q&A participants and the first intriguing one is Gregory "Outsourcing = good for U(nited) S(tates of)A(merica)" Mankiw, which is here http://www.whitehouse.gov/ask/20040209.html

The first question is dicier than I expected to see, but the real deal is greg*s ANSWER!

Karen, from Germantown, M(aryland)D writes:
The Bush Administration began it's polciy on tax cuts back in 2000 and said then that the tax cuts would provide a needed short term boost to the economy. The Bush Administration continued to use tax cuts for 4 years and our economy is still waiting for a boost, particuarly the job market. Why has our economy been so unstable for Bush's entire term?

Greg Mankiw
The President inherited a series of contractionary shocks to the economy: the end of a high-tech bubble in the stock market, corporate governance scandals, the uncertainties associated with the war on terror, and slow growth among our major trading partners, notably Japan and much of Europe.

These shocks led to a recession...
<snip>

Notice that! bush* has now INHERITED not only a recession but the WAR ON TERRA!

Damn that Clinton left quite a mess, huh! -s-

Edited to clarify acronynms at posters request - eom

1. Technically speaking
He DID inherit the 'war on terra'

Sandy Berger, among others tried to tell him that.

The problem is he ignored it until 9/11.

5. Recession ended 28 months ago -11/1/01 - and since then the Bush
expansion has sucked because of what?

I used to respect Greg Mankiw - no longer.

We have the most inept foreign policy team - and with Snow and Mankiw - the most inept economic team - in my rather long lifetime,

But we will decide this election on who is more likable - at least to the media - gay marriage - and the strength of right wing control of the media.

crazy.

6. Clinton had been combating the terrorists--with some success--
He just didn't use the word "War".

The Bush* regime was informed of the ongoing effort but had other priorities. They dropped the ball until almost 3000 people were killed.

Then they called it a War. Three cheers for our valiant warrior president! The heck with the economy! The heck with civil liberties!

Lots more people have died since then but there's no evidence that we're any safer from Terror.

9. just the opposite
They took the resources that WERE fighting Al Qaeda and moved them to Iraq to seize the oil for their cronies. Not only was Al Qaeda free to regroup, they have a whole bunch of willing fresh recruits from the Iraqi families who have lost family members to "shock and awe"

10. Regardless, if did "inherit", like he claims
He did nothing but sit on his stupid ass that whole year until September.

Oh, and he gave the Taliban $43 million in May.
