Just got an email from a guy at work. Says he's got free tickets to Gibson's slasher flick. Is this how "Passion" is going to kill at the box office, the same way mAnn Coulter's garbage does? Each fundy buys ten tickets, one for him or her self, and nine to give out to friends and cow orkers?

1. Many fundie church groups |
|
have bought out entire theaters for showings. Your colleague (and others!) are probably being sent out to fill those paid-for seats.
BTW, this is going on all over the country. Buy a theater showing; have a fundie discussion group afterwards. Gibson's a killer marketing man, isn't he?

2. Sounds like Repub book sales |
|
But if the inital reaction is any indication, free tickets to The Passion are going to become embarrassingly easy to come by.

4. Maybe I should accept them... |
|
...and not go. Empty seats to a sold-out show would be BAD.

6. Yes, I heard someone on the radio last night |
|
she and her boyfriend were going to go, and were handed free tickets (while they were in line) by members of a church group. The group got together after the movie and prayed together.
I plan to boycott this movie.

13. Will the federal law prevail right off the bat or are there going to be |

several tragedies before it's straightened out? How will that work out? Don't mean to hijack the thread, I'm really curious.

If a fundie is buying them anyway and wants to give tickets away, I will go see it.

14. My daughter came home from school today |
|
(she's a freshman in high school) and informed me that there are movie posters for "Passion" pasted up all over the school. When I asked her who put them up, she said she wasn't sure, but she thought it was some sort of youth group. She said she had never seen this done for any other film.
I'm puzzled by this. I would think this would be a huge "no-no" in a public school, considering the topic of the film, not to mention the storm of controversy surrounding it. I would think close to 3/4 of the students are not even of legal age to see the film without a parent or guardian present.

are allowed to attend R movies here if their parents are with them. No kids under 7 even with their parents. The local theatre considered relaxing the rule for the Passion movie - can you imagine a 4 or 5 year old watching a man being tortured to death for two hours? They decided to keep the 7 year old rule so now I guess the pre-teens can have nightmares, sponsored by Mom and Dad.
