refresh my memory - isn't Mel a chickenhawk? |
|
Wasn't his family originally from upstate NY, but then moved to Australia because certain members of the Gibson clan didn't particularly want to go to 'Nam?

emigrated to Australia because he objected to the war and didn't want his sons fighting in it, or so the story goes. Mel Gibson was perhaps thirteen or fourteen when the family went to Australia.

I don't know whether he's a Republican, but he's a rather conservative Catholic.

7. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go or not going to Viet Nam |
|
I just despise the people who didn't go smearing others who didn't go, for whatever the reason. i hate the phony "patriots" who ridicule and attack anti-war protestors when, in fact, the phony patriots did whatever it took to avoid going to Viet Nam and are now some of the biggest, most arrogant hawks.
