Stern is mostly on Infinity- and Viacom-owned stations. NOT Clear Channel

Here's a link to a list of stations Howard is on: http://www.koam.com/list.html

Stern works for Infinity Broadcasting. His show is broadcast by stations owned by Infinity, Viacom, Clear Channel, and maybe others. Clear Channel can't suspend Howard since he doesn't work for them. All they can do his yank him off the CC stations his show is on. I checked to see who owned the stations in some of the larger markets on the list above:

Boston: WBCN 104.1 FM (infinity)
Los Angeles: KLSX 97.1 FM (infinity)
New York: WXRK 92.3 FM (viacom)
Washington: WJFK 106.7 FM (infinity)
San Francisco: KITS 105.3 FM (infinity)
Chicago: WCKG 105.9 FM (infinity) www.wckg.com
Ft. Lauderdale/Miami: WBGG 105.9 FM (clear channel)
San Diego: KIOZ 105.3 FM (clear channel) www.kioz.com <--check out their hypocritical home page
Las Vegas: KXTE 107.5 FM (infinity)

So, in most of the markets I checked, the stations Howard is on are NOT Clear Channel stations. That is very interesting. I think I am going to check him out tomorrow morning.

Here's an article on Clear Channel's announcement:
Clear Channel Imposes Strict New Standards for Broadcast Decency; Company Announces `Responsible Broadcasting Initiative'

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2004--Clear Channel (NYSE:CCU) today announced a strong new "Responsible Broadcasting Initiative" to make sure the material aired by its radio stations conforms to the standards and sensibilities of the local communities they serve.

"Clear Channel is serious about helping address the rising tide of indecency on the airwaves," said Mark Mays, president and COO of Clear Channel Communications. "As broadcast licensees, we are fully responsible for what our stations air, and we intend to make sure all our DJs and programmers understand what is and what is not appropriate on Clear Channel radio shows."

Wonder how the evil hypocrites at Clear Channel feel about the home page at their station www.kioz.com

4. If I understand correctly, Stern was NOT fired.

Clear Channel yanked him off their stations, which they have the "right" to do, since they own those stations. They do not own Stern. Until we hear otherwise, Viacom/CBS is apparently sticking with him, so don't attack CBS too aggressively yet. They do have a pretty good evening news, you know - they were the folks who were hitting the chimp pretty good last fall when everyone else was still following their memos.
