Was given this piece by a co-worker, it is from the St.Petersburg Times editorial page from last week and it apparently was in response to a previous rant by some right wing kook that I didn't see. I want to share it with those here who didn't see this.
JUDGE HIM BY HIS FRUITS
Re: Bush's Faith is the answer, letter Feb.12.
Implying that those who disagree with president Bush are being energized by "demonic forces" is just plain foolish. It is much more likely that "we" are being energized by Christ's words and example.
Unfortunately, Bush proclaims his Christianity mightily but governs as if he were a Pharisee. Jesus blessed the peacemakers for "they shall be called sons of god". Bush executes a dishonest and preemptive war. Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple. Bush embraces them as his closest allies.
Christ admonished the young rich man to sell all his goods and give to the poor. Bush burdens our children and our grandchildren with astronomical debt in order to give to the extremely rich. Unfavorable comparisons could go on forever.
As Jesus said "By their fruits ye shall know them" I, for one, will continue to judge George Bush by his fruits.
