I demand Congress go after Rush and all his clones, religious programming, and all corporate-owned programmed bullshit radio.

1. and all stations that play country "music" too |
|
all stations that play anything by nsync or britney spears would fall under the "boring, repetitive, stupid radio" label as well

4. Someone should tell the RIAA |
|
that this is the main reason that they're revenues keep dropping. Forget the file sharers- mp3 folks are a drop in the bucket compared with the sales that used to be generated through diverse, vibrant and local radio that actually played new artists, set trends and gave people a reason to listen.
Who's going to buy music if they don't hear first the songs? Look at Beck. His first hit was literally made in his garage, got some local airtime and within months spread like wildfire. That could never happen again today with Clear Channel & Entercom dominating the airwaves.
If the RIAA had ANY sense at all, they would have opposed radio deregulation to begin with and they'd be putting their muscle behind breaking up the conglomerates- especially Clear Channel, who now controls not only much of the formerly local radio market, but the concert venues as well.
