GOP: the party dedicated to increasing ENSLAVEMENT.
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 02:25 PM by BlueEyedSon
I think i figured it out. Since slavery is officially illegal and taboo, the GOP are figuring out new and slippery ways of re-enslaving as many people as they can.

Outsourcing. Paying 14 year-olds 14 cents and hour for 14 hours a day, overseas. Hazardous materials and conditions. Almost slavery.

Killing the 9/11 commission. The truth should never come out re: 9/11, so the fear level can be kept exactly as high as they want. The terrorized populace will continue to do their bidding.

The Fetus bill: Women must do what they say with their bodies. More babies = more slaves. (Although rich women will ALWAYS be able to get an abortion somehow - as long as their man OK's it.)

Gutting Public Education: No social climbing, thank you. And please "build" me another burger.

The draft.
Manipulating the sovereignty of Iraq.
Increased intrusion of religion into government.
Tax loopholes for corporations (who's going to pick up the slack?).
etc.
etc.
etc.

Comments?

on edit: Im so hopping mad, I even forgot the DOMA.

2. It's actually worse than slavery.
Slaves had to be purchased and treated as assets. There are so many exploitable people in the world today that we can just be treated as DWU's (disposable worker units). It's terrifying.

And they just might end up feeding us soylent green. They have already experimented with cow cannibalism and we might be next. You can throw just about any meat into a hamburger patty.

11. America is now a colony
For centuries certain wealthy business entities have colonized undeveloped countries, exploiting their natural resources, reducing the people to slave status and eventually reducing the colonies to destitute third world status. Now, in the new era of global business, America itself has become a colony of the global plutocracy. Within a few decades our middle and lower income classes will find themselves impoverished and powerless to extricate themselves from the grip of big businesses.

14. Yes, worse than slavery
Outsourcing as DEFENDED as as an old tradition of "competition" can easily become globalist hopscotching among tamed and helpless hungry populations. If the Indians start getting too high and mighty, start dreaming of unions and retirement money, even a living wage... goodbye and on to the next shirtless ones that have labored heartily through education and self-destruction of democracy to become worthier.

Of course, their hope is that eventually the starving throngs back home will become so "competitive" that they can move back here for a time.

In the old days you had to take care of your slaves. No obligations at all here. If they revolt and ruin their area all the better preparation for coming at them later.

The NPR program on price fixing said it all. The smirking execs caught in the act had been encouraging one another with the meme "Keep repeating: the consumer is your enemy, your competitor is your friend." And they are as dumb, careless of any effect of their actions or any subtleties as any decadent nobility of the past. They cherry pick everything to their own personal short term enrichment and consider that entitlement to be criminals.

6. geez immigration law bush puts out
he wants to bring it right here on our soil. dont give the illegals any rights, but.........let them work for under minimum wage without any persecution to business cause americans wont do it for 20 dollars a day

i asked a friend, slave labor on u.s. soil, and she says why should we stop them from working they need the money,......i sat flabbergasted.

maybe if pay high enough an american would work it, hardly going to see them work a ten hour day for twenty dollars a day and still put food on the table. further, are they taxing this labor cause if they are illegal how can they, then there is another added boost to the big business

9. Republicans should quit howling about Dems
and quit manufacturing grievances and start reclaiming their party from religious zealots, 21st century robber barons, and bloodthirsty ideologues.

10. slavery
You have touched on an extremely important fact, namely that in one way or the other, most people around the world are slaves. I know of no other species on Earth that practices the systematic enslavement of it's own. People are the domesticated animals of the Plutocratic farm. Your comment go right to the heart of this terrible predicament.
