The religious right's screwed up problem with gay marriage |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 10:34 PM by MidwestMomma
The reason they are so afraid of gay marriage becoming legal is because some religious types (please note, this is just some) justify their jacked up belief that homosexuality is immoral based on their belief that sex is only acceptable within the sanctity of marriage and therefore, they can say that homosexuals are immoral because any sex they have is outside these 'sacred' bonds. Therefore, if homosexuals can get married, then they can no longer say homosexuals are immoral and then their whole holier-than-thou house of cards starts to collapse.
Is that f-upped or what?
I am so sick of the religious right trying to define what our culture is. I want my country back. I want the America we were starting to become when I was younger. A country where it was important to learn to, if not love, at least be tolerant of people of all types.
I say if the religious conservatives don't like equality for all then they should go start their own country someplace else. They can call it the United States of My Shit Don't Stink. And instead of the Statute of Liberty, they can put up a gigantic 10 commandment monument with an inscription that reads "Leave the judging to us."
edited for misspelling..

meaningless to a lot of people, myself included, and it's not the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, I think that homosexuality can only be considered a sin for those who believe in the book and live by it.
The rest of us should be free to live as we please. I happen to be straight, but what other people do in mutual consent with their private lives is really none of my business. To each his own, live and let live. I don't see why this concept is so difficult for fundamentalists to grasp.

"Homosexual sex is wrong all by itself"
I agree. It's much better if it's shared with someone else. The 'all by yourself sex' is a totally different 'sin'.

13. Not all 'Christians' have a problem with homosexuality |
|
Some Christians actually follow Christ's commandment to love one another and to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. They embrace Jesus and his teachings of compassion, forgiveness and love. I 'dare you' to find a word reported as uttered by Christ that says homosexuals should be treated differently from any of God's children.
That being said, I heard about this great new place for the all the unforgiving judgementalists to live. It's called the United States of Our Shit Don't Stink. Immigration is open to all those that are holier-than-thou.
