So much ammo against Bush - let's consolidate it here!
There's so much that Bush & the GOP have done lately that would disgust the average, middle-of-the-road voter - especially if our nominee howls about these topics. The media might ignore them, but they're basically forced to cover debates and major speeches.. very opportune times for our man to mention these things. So let's list them!

- stonewalling the 9/11 commission (this is a gold mine!)
- cutting Social Security benefits
- the GOP has appointed 7 of the last 9 USSC justices; how about some balance?
- offshoring jobs is "a GOOD thing"
- the longest vacations EVER taken by a sitting pResident ever
- re-legalizing assault weapons by failing to renew the ban?
- the record deficit
- healthcare costs are skyrocketing, and he won't utter a peep about them.
- let's stop regulating emissions and cleaning-up the water..
- steel states: tariffs!
- college tuition is skyrocketing, and our government has done NOTHING to make it more affordable. More loans! More grants!
- stem cell research: we need to make this a grab-your-hanky-and-weep issue, with tons of personal stories - there are lives on the line!
- more jobs lost than all presidents combined since the late 1920's
- the refusal to extend unemployment benefits at a time when the average period of unemployment has never been longer
- our infrastructure is still waaaay vulnerable, after tons of warning.. bridges, power plants, water supplies.. and yet, no action..
- all talk, no action on renewable energy. Note that this can be linked to jobs also.
- he has yet to ever use his veto pen!

Also, we need to throw-out this argument:
"after 9/11, the world was crying for us. Now, they cheer when our soldiers die. They chant "Osama" at sports events where we're competing. They openly ridicule us. We can brush-off the opinions of others around the world, but preventing terror is a team effort. Right now, other nations have leaders who are usually willing to cooperate with us. But what happens when the citizens of other nations begin to elect leaders who are openly hostile to us? What happens when they stop sharing intelligence with us? Bush himself is a walking security risk."

One more security argument for the Democrats:
"D.C. New York. Los Angeles. Chicago. All of these cities are top targets for terrorists. And their citizens all vote overwhelmingly Democratic. There are the places in America with the biggest bullseyes on their backs, and (by wide margins) they trust the Democratic party to protect them; that's quite a flattering endorsement."

And then there are things that could be good if we could advertise in more conservative areas (demoralize the GOP base = depress their turnout). Imagine if we were to rent billboard spaces in strongly Republican districts in swing states. Billboards are really cheap, and people would be forced to confront them every day on their commutes to and from work. I'd be willing to bet that the very act of taking-out ads there would make news in and of itself.

And imagine GOP-targeted advertising were to result in some Republicans saying to themselves, "Why bother voting?" - resulting in 2 or 3% of them staying home on November 2nd. Here are some ideas:
- openly gay ambassador appointees
- the signing of the Mychael Judge Act, granting terrorism survivor benefits to same-sex couples
- the passage of the trigger locks bill
- the upcoming passage of the assault weapons ban?
- the signing of the Campaign Finance Reform bill
- he has yet to use his veto pen!
- immigration, immigration, immigration

Other notes:
- Nearly 1 million gays and lesbians voted for him in 2000; he'll be lucky to get half now.
- he overwhelmingly won the support of Americans of middle-eastern descent in 2000. Not anymore though..
- the Supreme Court is a sleeper issue for mobilizing the base & keeping a gender gap. There are more and more bills being passed to "protect the fetus."

What else can we think of? At this point, the man is handing us gifts every day!

1. One additional item.
Let us not forget that Bush set the standard for preemptive war for the entire world. Whether Bush lied intentionally or not, lies are now the standard by which one country can invade another. War may now be the first choice rather than the last. Diplomacy to prevent going to war need only be a facade. It is in this way and not the lack of attention to the war on terrorism that Bush has made the world less safe.

2. Cutting Veterans benefits and VA hospitals
While sending our troops to war.

Hasn't attended one soldier's funeral.

Has appointed industry lobbyists in key regulatory positions!!!

After hearing a plane flew into the #1 terrorist target in the world, after months of warnings of a major attack, said, "I thought it was a terrible accident."

Deliberately lied about the cost of both tax cuts.

Deliberately lied about the job creation in their 2004 budget

Praised the outsourcing of American jobs.

Committed a felony by outing a CIA operative out of spite.

Office of Special Plans

Gave Ahmed Chalabi's group an additional $4 Million for 2004 after finding out his information was about as reliable as a Pinto.

Blocked global initiative to provide discounted AIDS drugs to Africa because of pressure from pharmeuceutical industry.

Weakened Clean Air and Clean Water act.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

3. don't forget....
Refusing to use the buying power of the Federal government to negotiate lower drug costs. Heck, just signing a huge new entitlement. The mission to mars. His immigration plan. The pervasive influence of the neocons. These are the things that have caused my fiscally conservative republican friend to plan to file a protest vote in November.

6. Gas goes to $3.00/gal.
That is really important. The "kick their ass, steal their gas" will bring the bitter fruit of an endless quagmire. And no gas. It was all for naught. No one wants to see this future, because even the best fantasies are so unfounded and very ugly.
