I wonder what our Führer thinks of all the Dean signs in DC |
|
One of the gratifying things about living in DC is that it has an extraordinarily high percentage of lefty residents: last time I checked the official stats, registered Dems accounted for 86% of DC's population and there were more registered Greens than Repukes. Not surprisingly, the city is absolutely plastered with campaign signs and bumperstickers for Dean, Kucinich, and "Anybody but Bush." There isn't a block of this city that doesn't have such signs displayed prominently on street and lampposts.
Which leads me to wonder, how do you suppose the shrub reacts to seeing evidence of the at least locally universal low regard in which he and his policies are held every single time he looks out his window or runs down to the corner 7-11 for a fresh bag o' chawin' tobacky?
Do you suppose he just shakes his head in sad pity for us misguided fools, does he take pride in the animosity of us evil liberals, or does he simply have (as his pattern of behavior is often wont to suggest) no sensory apparatus whatsoever and simply glides through life in a right-wing soma coma?

1. As he's choppered from one military base to the next, |
|
I sadly doubt he spares much thought for the real Washington.

Washington Post had an article about this earlier in his term. He spends almost zero time in Washington DC... at the time of printing, he had been out to dinner in DC once (I believe the article was printed sometime in 02 or 03).

Either he or the ones who think around him are happy as can be with Dean and Kucinich signs. I would imagine they take that as Dean, Kucinich, Sharpton, even Nader and are happy the party is split.
Now, the ABB ones might give pause.

3. D.C. has always hated the Republicans |
|
and the Republicans have reciprocated by denying the vote to the citizens of D.C.
As long as D.C. citizens don't have two senators and a voting Congressperson, Shrub will just laugh at them.

I mean there are lobbyists and big wigs who like them, I would imagine. But you're probably right about the DC Street. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

I always have to shake my head in sorrow whenever I hear about another effort on the part of my fellow DC residents to obtain political representation. "People," I say to myself, "do you really imagine for even an instant that Repukes are going to support granting votes to a community that is so ardently opposed to their political interests?" Sigh.

5. Probably doesn't actually drive around DC |
|
And if he was driven rather than being airlifted out of the White House like a Saigon refugee, he'd probably be passed out in the back seat of the limo with the dog and Pickles.
In answer to an earlier question, 30 minutes, give or take some traffic in Arlington.
