Jeff Seeman for Congress!
The success of Ben Chandler's campaign in Kentucky should speak in no uncertain terms about the power of internet fundraising to make a real difference in Congressional races. Donating based on shared political ideology rather than simply location gives us the power to offer a real challenge to the advantages conferred by incumbency and take back control of the House and Senate.

Jeff Seeman, a true progressive, is challenging Ralph Regula, one of the most partisan GOP Reps, in Ohio's 16th Congressional District. Right now he is having a 32-day fund drive (one day for every year Regula has wasted time in Congress). Their goal is 10,000 dollars, 20 dollars each from 500 people, to help fund future radio ads, print ads, and housing for our out-of-state interns.

We can make a difference in Congress this year! Help take control back from DeLay's band of thugs and put it in progressive hands!

Not supporting Jeff Seeman for Congress is to support returning a republican to the House!

12. Jeff has already WON the nomination
Edited on Fri Feb-27-04 02:59 PM by Walt Starr
He had no competition in the primaries. He is the de facto Democratic nominee in the Ohio 16th congressional district.

It logically follows, being opposed to Jeff Seeman for Congress means support for returning a Republican to the House.

13. Yes, that's what I thought.
However, maybe meegbear figured Jeff wasn't progressive enough and decided to wage a write-in bid against him. That's the only reason I can see for not supporting the Democratic nominee in this particular race, except for maybe pettiness and vindictiveness, which I'm sure couldn't be the reason.

Probably for calling out a certain someone who is now listed as name removed.

Jeff called into the Guy James show yesterday, sounds like his campaign is going great guns!! Check out the Guy James archives.

7. Right on, Jeff needs our help
Here's a chance for DUers to make a real difference in the election. As a community we can't do much on the presidiential election side because of teh numbers involved, but here we have a chance to actually get a tired gimpy old politician retired and a new progressive Democrat in office.

This year, the Congress and Senate are just as important, if not more important, than the race for the White House.

21. Jeff has been doing really well
Lining up some great endorsements, putting together a great upcoming fundraiser (which this fundraiser is helping pay for) with some great talent. He's doing everything right, near as I can tell.

I'm very proud of him, and proud to support him with a little of the money that would've gone to Gov. Dean. I hope DUers who believe in grassroots democracy and cutting out the special interests, not to mention getting rid of entrenched GOPers will pony up for Jeff.

Go, Jeff!

40. He's not all that progressive
imo. In fact he has run off true progressives from another forum because of his lack of moral standards. I guess in this climate ANY DEMOCRAT will do. Not in my book. Phony is phony.

A true spirit of liberation is nowhere to be found in the wilderness that is this planet. There are thought police and shame and manipulation masters at every turn.

They'll probably throw me out when they see this post too. That's the "progressive" way, doncha know? Banishment? Oh well.. I will just crawl back under my rock.

43. Earth to drfemoe ..... Hello??????
Yeah, he's not that progressive. He only did the following...

-Was removed from Ohio Stadium because he refused to face towards Bush (or have we forgotten that one?) and threatened with arrest by the Secret Service
-Started a peace movement in Canton, Ohio, protesting the war 24 times
-Protested person visits by Bush 3 times and Cheney once.
-Organized a "Bush Knew" rally at several Major League Baseball stadiums on September 11th, 2002
-Finished in the top 5 candidates for Program Director at Pacifica Radio Los Angeles
-Was part of the crowd that angered Bush so badly that he slammed his union jacket to the ground as he boarded Air Force One
-Placed anti-Diebold signs on the Ohio Secretary Of State's display at the Stark County Fair
-Has the endorsements of several progressive US Congresspeople (check the press releases this coming Wednesday)

A man who has been on the streets, in the papers, and placing his entire life on hold to run for office.....why would we EVER think he wasn't progressive???

AWD is about as progressive as we can ask for. Challenge him on many things....but questioning his progressiveness is laughable. You should be ashamed.

We are talking about progressive politics, not some slight from another message board.

Do you have some problem with getting a republican out of congress and electing a progressive democrat?
