Republicans stealing the "macho" label
While talking with a friend the other day about this, it's hard to figure out why Republicans are regarded as so "macho". I mean look at how many of the Republicans avoided serving in the military compared to people like Kerry, Clark, Cleland, Davis, Gore, and so on.... Also Bush along with Perry and Lott were fucking cheerleaders while Kerry was playing football. Not that I care and judge a man because he was a cheerleader, but to the typical "macho" male it's amazing they think Republicans are so macho. Especially Bush and the war. I don't think it's macho at all to say "bring it on" when somebody elese kid is fighting war. It just seems funny that the stereotypical white male would vote Republican over Democrat because they think they are more "butch". My supervisor is one who votes mainly because he has this view and my friend and I just laugh.

In my opinion people like the Dem's I listed above are the real men showing courage and honor.

Did you read Franken's book? I want my wife to kick Rich Lowery's ass on Pay Per View.

I'll take care of Jorge, DICK, Rummy, and Wolfie at the same time.

My calico will take on Asscracked.

Right now I would like to take down the far-right third of the supreme court.

Clarence And Billy I will take down with one judo-chop.

And I wll beat Scabies with his own dead ducks.

I just had a mental images of the three disrobing into just boxing shorts.

Shiver.... Shiver....

11. LOL

I think I would just sit down and crack a beer and watch my wife handle the light work. She could give all of them an ass whipping at the same time without breaking a sweat

8. it's obvious why
The Republicans 'kick ass' for them by proxy and are unfriendly to women.

They're being used, but they get immediate psychological gratification from Republican propaganda. It's easier to go along with it than to face facts that you've been manipulated by criminals and liars.

9. They're 'macho' because they say they are.
Just like they have 'values' because they say they do.

I've seen at least two pundits challenging Democrats recently on values with questions implicitly reinforcing such outrageous propaganda along the lines of: "What do you say to Republican voters, who believe strongly in family values, about..." What is that? People who believe in tax cuts and bigotry get an automatic upper hand to patronize those who really do believe in family values? How does that happen?

It happens because Democrats allow it to happen.

The answer is not to pipe up in defensiveness "We have family values too!". It's to simply make the case that Democrats have family values, period, and pointedly, pointedly imply that Republicans don't. It's the truth, but more importantly it's how things work in the real world. Wes Clark is the only Democrat that I've seen attack these myths head on, saying Democrats are the party of family values and Democrats are the party that keeps America safe, and Republicans don't have family values and Republicans haven't kept America safe.

The second that Max Cleland had his patriotism impugned should have marked the start of a month in which you couldn't find a transcript of any Democrat speaking in public that didn't have the words "Republican chickenhawk", "Republican coward" or "Republican traitor" in every single sentence regardless of the topic.

What is it with Democratic timidity about offense? Either have the audacity to promote Democratic goodness and the courage to slam Republican badness, or just go on and let Republicans define themselves as everything good that their sleazy, self-deceptive little minds want themselves to believe they are: good, wholesome, ethical, honest, brave, .......... All bullshit spouted in endless repetition until it is taken as conventional wisdom.

Because they say so.

What exactly stops Democrats from doing the same?

13. "Macho" behavior is a coverup
for fear, insecurity and weakness. These men aren't manly, they are cowards. How about exposing the myth of "macho" as "manly" and see what happens??

Maybe if the Dems can redefine what it means to be a man, it would eliminate the impression of the repuke party as the party of so-called "real men".

Monkeyboy and his cabal are anything but men. They are pathetic cowards playing out their insecurities on the world stage and leaving a wake of death and destruction in their quest for dominance. :grr:
