4. Welcome to respectful and tolerant DU
<sarcasm off>

The irony here, of course, is that many good Christians unselfishly give several times that amount ($17) each week in their local churches to help fund programs that provide meals and housing for the poor, and health care in less developed countries. As a Catholic Christian, though saddened by the recent sex abuse propagated by a very small percentage of sick/criminal clergy, I nonetheless still gladly support the one of the primary missions of the Church, which is to help the world's poor (which is why MANY Christians are Democrats). So I hope I'm not considered a hypocrite if I go see a movie.

5. Taking this a little personally aren't we?
Welcome to DU. :hi:

I hope you enjoy the movie. Perhaps you'll post a review here after you've seen it. I'd love to hear your opinion of it.

7. Yes, I'm taking this very personally.
My faith, like that of many Christians, is more important to me than my ethnicity, my politics, or my sexual preference, and since racial slurs and homophobic remarks aren't tolerated here, then why is it O.K. to declare open-season on Christians?

That aside, thank you for the kind welcome. I look forward contributing to the debate on less contentious subjects.

9. I'm also a Christian.

It is my understanding that "Passion" blames Christ's death on the Jews rather than the Roman government. I think that this is the problem that most folks have with the movie.

This is a big world and we Christains have to live and get along with Jews and Muslims.

I'd like to read your review of the movie, also, Nashvilliberal.

12. Isn't the whole idea that he died for our sins? If so ...
why would anyone care how he died? Or who was responsible?

Wouldn't they be more pissed off if they didn't kill him?

This just goes along with my notion that Christianity is a rationalization based on a tragic end to Jesus.

"Oops, he just got crucified. Bummer!"

"Hmmm, yes, well...... I know! He died for our sins!"

"That's it! Of course!"

10. I LOVE this cartoon!! I am a Christian but
I don't NEED to see another passion flick. If I've seen one, I've seen a million: in theaters, and in church plays. I agree that that money spent on tickets to a movie with GRATUITOUS Violence is a waste of money. Yes, indeed, what WOULD Jesus do with those bucks? It seems to me He was rather ticked off by religious organizations making a buck on items related to the peoples faith.

Blessed is he that has not seen yet believes.............
