Media, Gays, Democrats, exactly who IS Willie Hortoning this issue? |
|
Only to the advantage is it to the Republicans to have gay marriage torpoeded through the political nature of folks, whatever the reason, in a presidential election year. I think it would do well not to play into the hands of the Republicans, who will play on phobias of any and all kinds, they fight real dirty, didn't I warn you?
The real losers will be gays, who say they desperately want reform and they are not gonna get it from the current presidential administration if by some fluke, like last time, the incumbent wins!!!!!! The rest of us are gonna lose big time, too.
and I'm not chicken little, the sky will be falling if that happens.
Hotdammit, here it comes!!!!

There certainly are a lot of people on this board lately who want us to panic about the dread gay conspiracy to destroy the dems. Guess what? It's not happening. Bush blew it. Americans don't want to see their Constitution amended to remove rights from a class of citizens. And, they are becoming more receptive to gay marriage. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1169180

6. This might have played into their hands |

but Bush pushed it too far. Now it will backfire on them. Requesting the amendment put off a lot of people who would have otherwise been caught up in the GOP's scare tactics. Not only will they look like bigots (though some will eat it up), but this is actually pushing the marriage issue forward. It may solidify his base, but it makes him look foolish among the moderates.
