He's the mayor of Detroit and an impressive man. I've seen him on a few cable news network shows most recently on Bill Maher's Real Time show on HBO.
Just curious if anyone has an opinion on him or can shed some light on his background. Seems like he'd make a great senate canidate some day.

Except for his being against gay marriage, yeah, he's okay.

2. I like him, some don't. |

I don't know if he will have the discipline for a Senate run. He's not ready yet, but, maybe in time, maybe. He's young. Or, maybe the Senate would be better off with him just as he is.
That's just my visual impression of someone I see comes across the TV as funny but not too funny, serious but not too serious.
Even keeled more than down to earth.
Detroit was recently titled one of the fattest cities in the country. Kawame said, "it didn't help when I showed up." He's 6 foot something and over 300 not-bad-looking-but-big pounds.
He makes me feel comfortable, not intimidated despite his size.
He wants a new hall for the auto shows and needs a billion dollars when Michigan is hit hard by Bush2 recession and Detroit is always hit harder. He has also taken on revamping a couple of long left undone projects before the upcoming superbowl in a couple years. (Refurbishing the Statler-Hilton Hotel long out of service and the 13 floor train station of broken-out glass will become the new state-of-the-art police headquarters.) Our police still have no computers, not even for fingerprints if you can believe that.
These are not small projects, not medium sized either, large projects. Will it be more than he can handle? Will one of them drop? Stay tuned.
He does have the opportunity to show himself to the nation and world. And, I think he can do it by being himself, and that might just be what generation nexters will be looking for by the time they start voting.

I do not like Kwame. He smacks too much of the remains of the Coleman Young pack. He is playing too many games and plays up to the wrong elements in my opinion. That and he seems to have the same ties to the police that made Young so tainted. Special favors. Special forces. Sorry. I just can't get behind Kwame.
