Ever notice how Republicans rewrite history immediately?
After Bush successfully stole the election, through voter fraud and "scrubbing" African Americans from the voter rolls in Florida, the Republicans immediately put out a book projecting the stolen election onto Gore.

After Bush told John O'Neill to "back off" investigating the Bin Laden terrorist network, and after he ignored Gore's anti-terrorist commission report, thus allowing 911 to happen, the Republicans immediately wrote a book with blaming Clinton for Bush's miserable failure. (This isn't even the original cover - the original had the smoking ruins of the towers in the background).

Why do we allow Republicans to lie and rewrite history? What are we going to do about it?

1. Yes, and one of the main reasons they do it so well is..
..there is no stupid petty infighting. They're unified in their goal of spreading their ideology.

We're too busy arguing over who isn't liberal enough, who is a covert GOP operative, how the DLC someone how mysteriously gained control over the democratic party, how we won't vote for _________, etc. etc.

2. they learned from Goebbels
who after all, just like them, was an extreme right winger.

This is a very typical right wing ploy. It only works because of the control over the media that the right wing has in this country.

On the other hand, I wonder how many people, other than those who are already freepers, are actually convinced by this kind of blatant rewriting of history... (shades of Orwell...)

4. He who owns the printing presses...
...owns the 'truth'. That's always been the case. It's just that never before in American history have so few (idealogues) individuals/corporations owned and controlled a majority of the media.

5. but, sheesh,
the reps never look back and say, "but, you said this yesterday". They go with the new version and will argue that the previous didn't even exist, hell the white house goes as far as to scrub its' own website, it's fucking maddening.
