Just discovered Link TV (DirectTV channel 375) - great stuff!

It's an awesome channel and I never noticed it before because it's crammed in the section with all the god-awful religious channels.

Those of you with DirectTV should check it out. All progressive world programming, 100% commercial free, TV for, well, people like us.

they're doing a fundraiser right now, which would annoy me if I didn't like them so much. :) I'm NOT posting this because of the fundraiser, seriously, I just discovered them this morning, they were doing a documentary called "Affluenza".

1. Affluenza is a great documentary

I was so moved by it several years ago, I bought it and shared it with my friends....and yes, Link has provocative programming. :thumbsup:

also channel 366,International news, where you can watch CBC, the Canadian news. They have news releases you will not see on US channels.

4. Yes! I didn't know it was there for a long time either.

In fact I had it blocked for a while thinking it was one of the religious channels! It's really eye opening when you have company over, to switch from CNN to LINK and really let them see how warped the US *news* is.

As good as link and NWI are, you might consider changing providers soon. Rupert Murdoc, the right wing Neo-con zelot now owns controling interest in DTV. You know what that means, before long he will be purging his new network of anything that speaks out against the Ne0-Con Facists and replacing them with appropriate material...i can just see Fox news becoming a new DTV channel in the near future.

8. It is a GREAT channel! News and music from everywhere, movies

documentaries, as mentioned in the original post. I love World Link, I wish there were more channels like it.

10. When you get a chance, check out the Dish Network

the other satellite company. There's World Link and Free Speech TV, which is tops and the company isn't owned by Murdock.

13. We get it on DishTv, which we switched to from

DirectTV when Murdoch bough DirectTv. We've gotten cheaper fees, better equipment, and much better service too. It was worth the switch.

The FCC requires that satellite carriers like DIRECTV and DISH Network reserve at least 4% of their capacity (approximately 10-12 channels) for non-commercial networks such as Link TV. Such FCC requirements do not apply to cable television, whose contracts are controlled by local governments and typically there is only one or two 'public access' channels in each community. As a result, obtaining nationwide distribution on cable is more difficult and very expensive. This is a function of media consolidation, where 90% of the top 50 cable channels are owned by five companies.

In the coming years we hope to obtain cable distribution for Link TV. We encourage you to contact your local cable operator and express your interest. If the cable companies know their customers are searching for this unique network, they may be more inclined to offer Link TV a channel

15. I've been thinking of switching too

I watched Link TV or WorldlinkTV for a number of years on DirectTV. I've been thinking of switching to DISH. I know that they both have LinkTV, but DISH also has FreeSpeechTV.

some other good docs coming up that I would highly recommend are

FEAR AND FAVOR IN THE NEWSROOM - narrated by Studs Terkel. I think it's on Mon or Tues. This one is really really good.

ISRAEL's SECRET WEAPON - on today i think. About Israel's nuclear weapons program and WMD programs.

BEHIND THE WALL - on today or tomorrow i think. About the wall Israel is building.

You might alos find some good docs on the Sundance Channel (No. 549 i think). They've been running some good docs on Mondays, especially.
